Which Do You Believe?

Republicans believe...

Democrats believe...

...that the United States were founded on the fundamental principle that individuals have certain rights and freedoms which cannot be infringed upon and may be restricted only to the degree necessary to preserve the rights of others.

...that our Founding Fathers did not really mean what they said when they guaranteed certain constitutional rights such as the right to freedom of religious expression, the right to keep and bear arms, and the right to retain the use of private property.

...the money you earn is yours and that government in a free society has the right to take only as much as is needed to perform those limited functions, which are appropriate to it.

...government has a right to use your money as it sees fit to redistribute wealth, establish new spending programs in times of budget surpluses, and to return to you only that portion of your money which is politically expedient.

...the traditional family and the values it fosters are the foundation of American society and their preservation is essential to our Nation's continued success.

...American society must redefine its values and the role of the family to fit new lifestyle concepts, which have resulted from the 60ís counter-culture movement and an attitude that promotes an abrogation of individual responsibility.

...parents have the right to determine the values with which their children will be raised and to have the widest possible choice among public, private and religious schools and that competition will improve public education.

...the federal government has the right to determine the values which will be taught in public schools and parentsí choice of schools must be limited to avoid exposing public schools to competitive forces which would encourage reform and increase accountability.

...that the free enterprise system is the most effective engine of economic progress.

...that government regulation and federal control of economic activity can better distribute wealth and services to the American people.

...high taxes, runaway government spending, and over-regulation of business and farming punish initiative and stifle economic growth.

...penalizing achievement with higher taxes and increased government bureaucracy and spending will not stifle economic growth but instead guarantee prosperity for everyone.

...that with freedom comes responsibility and that individuals must take personal responsibility for their own actions and our criminal justice system must be based on this idea.

...individual behavior, including criminal behavior, can be blamed on "society" and that spending on social welfare programs and improvements in prison living conditions can combat crime.

...that your property is yours and you have the basic right to make use of it without unreasonable government restrictions.

...the government has the right to regulate the use of private property in accordance with narrow special interests without giving just compensation to owners.

...the preservation of our rights and freedoms must be entrusted to a strong national defense and of the ability of the United States to negotiate with other nations from a position of strength.

...we can afford to drastically weaken our military despite the threats present in an unstable, post-Cold War international environment and the United States must subjugate its interests to those of the United Nations.

...it is imperative today to re-affirm the traditional freedoms and values of America to preserve our great Republic.

...that America must adopt a politically correct, multi-cultural set of values which denies common American heritage and will further divide American society.

...there can be differences of opinion and that such differences such result in opponents, not enemies.

...that all whom oppose them are to be treated as enemies.

...that all of America's citizens can enjoy the rights and freedoms of our country without diminishing the rights of others.

...that some must give up a portion of their rights and freedoms that others may enjoy those same rights and freedoms.

...that public servants, particularly those whom we elect to office, must be held accountable to the highest standards of ethical conduct.

"If a man cannot be trusted with the government of himself, can he be trusted with the government of others?" [Thomas Jefferson]

...that loyalty to a discredited leader is a virtue and if other office holders have committed indiscretions, a sitting office holder should not be criticized for failing to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Those who believe there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats do not know what they are talking about.

Both parties may have a penchant for spending but it is the priorities that make the difference.

If you support the ACLU and liberal judges vote Democrat.

If you support the culture of victim politics and want Gay marriage and sexual perversion in your society and in your schools vote Democrat.

If you want the teachers unions, who would gladly hand out abortion pills, condoms to your kids, and teach them about how natural homosexuality, bisexuality, and sex changes are, to have unconstrained support in congress vote Democrat.

If you support the ACLU and their efforts to remove relgious freedom from all public places then vote Democrat.

If you want to bring our soldiers home as losers and have their honor stripped from them then vote Democrat.

If you find the Boy Scouts offensive because they won't allow openly gay scouts and atheists vote Democrat.

If you support spending huge amounts of money fighting Global warming vote Democrat.

If you want all illegals to have instant citizenship then vote Democrat.

If you want to negotiate with terrorist supporting nations and turn a blind eye to the nuclear ambitions of Iran and North Korea then vote Democrat.

If you want higher taxes vote Democrat.

I could go on and on and I welcome anyone who can add to this list. The Republicans may leave a lot to be desired but voting Democrat or not voting is not the answer when the safety and power of our country, the education of our children, and the honor of our soldiers is at stake. (Ex-alcoholics and guys with little dogs aside.)

The Democrat party is even more socialist than the Republican party, neither seems to believe in limited government. At least not limited by the Constitution.

The Republicans I know personally believe the things list for them in this chart.

However I see little evidence that the Republicans in the US Congress believe those things.

He's got the Republican column on the left and the RAT column on the right. I thought it was the other way around. Now I'm REALLY confused.

The biggest problem we have is that RINOs do not necessarily "believe what Republicans believe." That's why I'm sick and tired of being asked to "hold my nose" and vote for the likes of Arlen Specter, Lincoln Chaffee, Joe Schwarz (thank God he's gone) or Rudy Giuliani just because their name appears on the Republican ticker.

The major difference between RINOs and Democrats is tha rate at which we surrender our rights and values.

I agree. If only all Republicans shared these beliefs and acted on them, then they wouldn't be in trouble this election cycle.

That ambiguity is the problem but be sure of one thing there is no abiguity where the Democrats and their supporters are concerned.

Please! Spare me the naivete!. Your list should have drawn a distinction between the rank n file and those bozos we think are conservative in Congress. And even your die-hard conservative rank n file does not have it all right. They believe the lies put out by Republican politicians. And lie they do! As a matter of fact, they lie worse than the Democrats.

The fact is, they are all bought and they have sold us down the river. Even the visionary freshmen who bespeaks of the hope for us regular Americans will end up getting caught in the web of deceit and lies if he expects to receive any real power.

And to close this blindness, I refuse to be labeled anything within the political spectrum. Political thinking drives politics. Morality, home, family, church drives me. The freaks on Silent Hill are far removed from such thinking.

2. .......ummmmmm ........ (Did I mention Ron Paul?)

And that is it! In every general rule, there is the exception. You named it. Too bad the general rule has had since 1994 to get back to REAL constitutional prescriptions. Newt sold out the so-called republican revolution single handedly and the rest has followed suit ever since.

It is obvious to me that Maelstrom needs to open his eyes.

How wonderful if this could be made into a one-page PDF file...easy for distribution.

I did this with some PDF files in the 2004 election...with names of prominent Democrats and their quotes endorsing President Bush. (I lived in an "outreach" area that was overwhelmingly 'rat, so getting quotes from 'rats who supported Bush in '04 was my strategery.)

This is a good opportunity for us to vent about the deficiencies of the Republican party. But when push comes to shove, there are only two parties capable of winning an election, so, for us, the Republican party is the only game in town.
We need to elect principled conservatives and retake the party.

It is reality politics. Life is about trade offs. I vote for the conservative limited government type everytime. Nothing is naive, what is naive and stupid is claiming there is no difference between the parties. They both may be corrupt but there are real differences to those who can handle the details. It is an act of mental laziness not to differentiate between the two parties because it is easy for you to just say they all the same. They are not all the same. The ACLU understands this. Moveon.org understands this. If we don't understand this we will invite upon ourselves and our country a plague of traitors in control of our soldiers and our economy. Right now the economy is strong, our soldiers are winning and holding strong, and the President is holding out against the most vile attacks and lies the office has seen in recent history. So go ahead and feel bad for yourself, I like you wish we had a better alternative but throwing control to the party of Howard Dean and Michael Moore is not a solution.

Pragmatism is what is required to win. Too many idiots are taking it upon to throw the baby out with the bathwater and they will get the government they deserve and maybe it will be good but I for one don't want a repeat of Vietnam, I don't want our soldiers air lifted in helicopters out of a winnable war while our allies are slaughtered by the millions. That is what we are looking at and it is frightening. Comments from ex-alcoholic ADHD disk jockeys who work at CNN and bitter fringe conservatives with little dogs that roll around on shrimp aside we need to be focused, if we were more focused we realize that the GOP has accomplished many good things by cutting taxes, strengthening defense, a strong economy, and appointing conservative judges. Life isn't about getting everything you want but only fools fail to acknowlege when they get some of what they want.
