Whine, whine, whine.
The bottom line is still Arnold or Angelides.
Advocating that conservatives stay home will still make it easier for Angelides to win.
The election will be much closer than the polls indicate, because the unions will turn out their base by the busloads. Conservatives staying home may well mean governor Angelides.
STAY HOME IF YOU WANT ANGELIDES ELECTED. Otherwise get out and VOTE FOR ARNOLD.
If you think ARnold isn't conservative enough, wait until socialist Angelides gets into power, coupled with the socialist Dem Legislature.
The naivite of some conservatives is astounding.
What's a matter, FO?
Have you no fight in you?
Are you and the FO account team so well paid and protected that you don't mind all the mindless socialism being foisted on this state by leaders of both parties.
Shame on you.
Actually, there does come a point where it is simply a matter of voting for those who are transporting you to hell at a slower pace.
You will eventually arrive in hell.
The slower pace vote is supposed to buy you time to come up with a new plan and better alternative.
Since that has not happened, the reason for voting one more time to go more slowly to hell would be that one sees a plan taking shape. If the plan never seems to be getting off the ground, then it eventually begins to make sense to try some other party.
There must be some effort by Republicans to restore conservatism and conservative candidates. If there is no effort to do so, then one is dealing with apathy, lethargy, betrayal, incompetence, or direct disagreement.
I'm so tired of you pushing this crap.
Arnold has to EARN conservative voters' votes.
The fact that some CA conservatives won't vote for RINOLD doesn't mean they support Angelides by default.
RINOLD will win but it's a victory in name only. He will move CA further to the left to the point where even a moderate Republican (fiscal conservative, social liberal) will not be a viable GOP candidate in 2010. The Republican running in 2010 will have no choice but to run as an out-and-out liberal, and he/she will lack the star power and charisma of RINOLD, thereby guaranteeing an easy Dim victory.
Amen! Ditto everything you said. Elections are about comparative choices not absolutes. This is why our founding fathers were wise to not opt for pure democracy. Some people get emotional about elections and are not capable of calm comparative analysis.
It isn't naivete and they ain't conservatives.
That might be a good thing.
Like a filthy, urine-soaked alcoholic who wakes up one afternoon in a back-alley dumpster, California must first "hit bottom" before it can truly begin on the path to recovery. Let Angelides and the socialist scumbag Democrats flush California down the toilet once and for all - - the sooner the better. Only then can California begin its recovery.
The only thing the re-election of Arnold would do is slightly delay the inevitable.
I see it took the Arnold Spam Patrol only 5 minutes to get here. Good work!
FairOpinion, you and I frequently agree on political issues facing our state, but this is one time I part company with you. I'm someone who didn't think the recall was a good idea, because it let the Democrats off the hook. Like the author of the posted article, once the recall made the ballot, I reluctantly decided to vote for Schwarzenegger primarily to keep Bustamante out of the governor's chair. I now regret my decision. I actually think we may have been better off in the long run if Bustamante had won.
Having Schwarzenegger in the governorship merely gets Republicans blamed for what the Dems are actually doing. Arnold is Lincoln Chafee/Jim Jeffords writ large, and he is a total drag on true Republicans in this state.
The automotive company, Nissan, moved its national HQ out of California recently, taking several thousand jobs with it. There is, of course, a ripple effect throughout vicinity where Nissan had its campus. I have a friend who owns a small mom and pop French-Vietnamese restaurant nearby. Stopped in for lunch Friday and he told me he's thinking of selling the place. The raise in the minimum wage just kills him. He and his wife put in long hours. They have one employee and will be forced to let him go, but the husband and wife just can't do everything on their own.
These kinds of stories are being repeated everywhere, but we have a Republican governor who signed the bill, so guess which party gets the blame. Most average folks in the state don't have a clue who controls the legislature, so the Dems are totally able to hide behind the nominally Republican Arnold. Sickening.
