It was inevitable, I think. I always thought he'd get partially eaten by something, not killed like this at the bottom of the ocean. I didn't think it would be a gater that got him. He knew land critters. He'd worked around them all his life. Then he needed novelty to keep his audience, and branched out into dealing with critters he didn't know as well

From what I understand, stingrays are pretty tame critters. He must have done something to p*ss it off.
