IF YOU WERE one of the journalists kidnapped in Gaza last month and ordered at gunpoint to become a Muslim, what would you have done? Fox News reporter Steve Centanni and photographer Olaf Wiig announced their acceptance of Islam on a videotape released by their kidnappers -- ``because they had the guns," Centanni later said, ``and we didn't know what the hell was going on."

Whether their acquiescence was an act of cowardice or of prudence, reasonable people can debate. Clearly it wasn't their only choice. If I were ever told, with a gun to my head, to recite the Shahada or die, I hope I would have the courage to take the bullet.

Not to worry, we have a representative Republic. Your rep and senator will take the Shahada for you. Look how well it worked for the western media.

It's one thing to tout the "Religion of Peace" while you're surrounded by crazed Islamic nut jobs.

But Centanni and Wiig, safely in the US, refuse to now speak out against the Muslims thugs who very revealingly told them "All the problems would be solved if the west converted to Islam."

So, yes, you do what you have to in order to survive. But downplay the story afterwards, to continue the RoP nonsense once safe is the act of a coward, or multi-cultural poser.

Our western religions tell us that life is of the up most importance. As humans we instinctively do what we can to survive. I don't see much virtue in dying when there is still so many reasons to fight. I would repeat the words that they wanted me to say if it was the means to save my life. I would be secure in the knowledge that the Lord would know what was in my heart.

On the other hand if islam ruled the world and my Christian faith was obliterated without hope of it ever being restored, then given the choice convert or die, I would die willingly.

The the sublime knife in the Islamofacist's back is that facism never succeeds, freedom always wins out in the end.

Communism and monarchies failed because they fail to account for true human nature, the yearning to be free, self-governed, and secure. Fascists can never understand the power of independent thought and true liberty, it's the very opposite of their ideology. Islamic fascism will ultimately fail for the same reason.

That's right.. we wouldn't want those islamfacists to think they've been fooled. That way they will know to kill the next person they capture. And who gives a crap about the next person captured.. you sure as hell don't.

Reporting in a war zone is a dangerous business, or would be if the reporters weren't selling out to the other side.

This is a fight for everything, get some guts or get out of the way.

With a gu to my head i would have probably gone on to become Islamic to.. When I got home I would call these people the Enefers they really are and tell them to kiss my ass. But of course I am not a reporter who has to continue to kiss their asses in order to work.

CNN admitted they wrote stories like the terrorists told them too so they could stay and continue to report. they didnt write the truth. Now it seems as though Fox has done the same thing, or at last 2 of them have.

Thats all well and good as long as Americans realise we cannot believe anything the media says, because their journalism is infected with a virus placed there by islam.

I have no idea what the attraction can be to islam. It offers no comfort or peace. It would seem that those who have a need to dominate and repress what is natural and human are called to embrace this murderous cult. In the end it will fail for the very reasons that you state, but it will not go easily. It is not going to be pretty.

I think I have a solution for those who wish for Centanni and others in like circumstances to submit to death rather than opting to keep on living. Simply offer to exchange places with the hostage (and hope nobody accepts). IMO, the kidnapping was for money, which I expect was paid. And likely done by free lance jihadists with a streak of capitalism in their veins. Negotiations behind the scenes would not have mattered if this was about religion. I also would not be surprised to hear that the kidnappers have, or soon will be, sent to their waiting Virgins. And, on the bright side, the RATS now won't be able to sympathize with the enemy by claiming we made them kill Centanni because he shouldn't have been there.

Yea, I would have handled to "homecoming" a lot differently too. I would not have given ANY interviews. Probably would have thought seriously about retiring or at least changing my profession. That is, after I told islam to take a flying leap off a cliff. :O)

These armchair commandos make me laugh. Easy to offer to die for your faith when you're safe at your keyboard.

I have read of this and seen various comments.

I don't know what I'd do.

I reckon that if it were sure I was going to be killed, like in one of the snuff videos these freaks are so fond of, I'd be defiant.

If I had the choice to "convert" or die, I'd have to think about it.

I'd have me a conversation with God and let him know that some contemptable dogs were a'fixing to snuff ol' Johnny, and that I was going to recite some words for them that I didn't mean in order to keep Johnny kicking.

I reckon He would understand.

From the Martyrdom of Polycarp

But when the magistrate pressed him hard and said, "Swear the oath, and I will release you; revile the Christ," Polycarp said, "Eighty-six years have I been His servant, and He has done me no wrong. How then can I blaspheme my King who saved me?"

Communism and monarchies failed ...in what world? At least 1/2 the people in the world live in monarchies and dictatorships. Monachism has survived since 4,000 B.C. to this day. Compared to that democracy and Republics are flash in the pan. Iraq is demonstrating that not everyone is ready to live in a democratic republic.

No one "offered" to die for his faith (your statement seems to indicate you think the author was bragging). He said that he hoped he would have the courage to do so. I hope I would, too. I would hate to deny my Savior. And nobody says it would be easy. It would be terrifying. Hoping you would be brave enough to accept martyrdom rather than denying God is not the same thing as bragging at all.

Jesus, you're a moron. As if their (the reporters) speaking the truth after release would have had any impact on what these people do. 'Well, Gosh, they were nice in the way they spoke of us. Let's not behead any other people ever again. Pinky promise?'
