Some states still have common-law marriage.
Which are only applicable to heterosexual couples by statutory declaration and court decree... it is still subject to statutory regulation...That is not correct.

"The difference is, the dems and pubbies get to control who gets publicity through the MSM, and who runs."
Not only are the libertarians whacky on many issues; now they are "Victims" too?
If they aren't smart and clever enough to manage the game as it is, and to get coverage from the MSM, why should I think they are smart and clever enough to MANAGE a country?
Do you agree with late Harry Browne that America is to be blamed for 9/11/2001?
To: Calvinist_Dark_Lord
It is entirely correct... the website actually confirms it... it is entirely a regulatory function of legislative declaration and it is confirmed by court decree in cases where property and child custody are issues...

Well it seems you don't care about Conservative justices, Immigration reform, America, or fighting Terrorists. For that I'll aks you why the hell you read FreeRepublic then.
As for taxes and the economy, it works simply.
The Economy Improves with:
Lower Taxes
Lower Spending
Lower Interest Rates
Peace
The Economy Worsens with:
Higher Taxes
Higher Spending
Higher Interest Rates
Wartime Uncertainty
Look at the last 25 years, considering the adjustments in each, and the economy works out. (You can thank Reagan, the 1994 Revolution and Bush later)
As for Social Security, if the Republicans win this upcoming election, you WILL see this item back. (Thats why it continues to be debated in 2006 Election races)
On the Death Tax, you have been decieved by the media. Currently most middle class tax payers amass enough wealth that by the end of their life, they end up in the lowest bracket for Death taxation. It is not just a tax on the Kerrys, the Turners and the Rockefellers.
I didn't expect you to be concerned about our religion and language, because the ACLU is a holy icon for you liberaltarians. So enjoy a Spanish speaking, Euro style America in the future. (by the way, the economy will really suck then)
Well I guess after writing about these issues and hearing your retort, I guess what I wrote about really doesn't concern you, you are not a Conservative, and the Democrats will do you fine. And as I suggest above, Leave FreeRepublic.
Have a Nice Day

The requested document does not exist on this server.
This is what I found, and I found it ironically fitting.

Well when it comes to the main election, libertarians have to have the common sense to know when there is a chance a Democrat could get elected, and in that case go for the Republican.
IMO the reasons some of the Republicans have moved left is a result of generations of Democrats buying the vote in exchange for paying some voters with the treasury by way of bloated government salaries and pensions and for others endless welfare or assistance.
One side says personal responsibility with maybe temporary safety nets and the other side holds out a bowl of cash like Halloween and tells the voters to dive in.
The dependent voters take the easy route and as they gain in heavy numbers the Republicans IMO have been forced to move left.
Still no reason IMO to no have enforced borders and enforced immigration laws.
If anything is screwing a Republican chance at remaining a majority, it's not defending the borders and our sovereignty.
We need them regarding the war, and their position on borders and immigration takes the risk of screwing the outcome of a war, judges and the whole future of our nation IMO.

Hey, welcome to FR. Seems there's quite a good group of libertarians here.
To: MassachusettsGOP
Using "Liberaltarian" instead of Libertarian only weakens your argument.
The difference between liberals and Libertarians are like night and day.
To: JTN
Comas? Yeah, I admit. I do try to avoid those.
Forgetting an "m" in the middle of night is hardly the same as blatant disregard for standardized writing and grammar rules.
Third grade students know you start a sentence with a capital letter.

He didn't blame America, he blamed our foreign policy and I agree with him 100%!
President Jimmy Carter gave Iran to the terrorists who are attacking us today.
President Ronald Reagan cut and ran from the terrorists in Lebanon who murdered 220 of our marines.
President Bill Clinton cut and ran from the terrorists in Somalia who murdered 18 of our soldiers.
Republicans and Democrats share responsibility for our disastrous foreign policy!

Libertarians should run as Republicans. That's how it always was. The libertarians and what is now called "paleocons" were the cornerstones of the conservative movement. But the neocons and party hacks purged them all.
They prefer Joe Lieberman.

Marriage is a public act that requires statutory license... And a lot of small-l libertarians recognize that a marriage is a union between one man and one woman to, among other things, allow children to have a legitimate mother and father.

, if you separate out the issues where libertarians disagree among themselves, .... you would have nothing left
I wouldn't call the Second, Fourth, and Fifth amendments, nor a desire for reduced government spending, "nothing", would you?

"Republicans and Democrats share responsibility for our disastrous foreign policy!"
Of course democrats and Republicans share responsibility for our foreigh policy.
But our foreign policy is far from "disastrous" as you would label it.
Hitler and Saddam had "disastrous" foreign policies. It got them into wars they couldn't win, then dead or ousted.
Do you agree with me, on that?
To: Extremely Extreme Extremist
Not really. But yes, they are different.
Libertarians are generally Conservative on Personal and Fiscal issues, where they mirror the Republicans more. (and may actually be more Conservative than Republican)
However, on Cultural and Foreign Policy issues, the Libertarians are largely Liberals.

The Chairman of the Illinois Libertarian Party saw Bush's petition for the 2004 election. It had exactly the minimum number of signatures required, which I believe was 5000. Suppose he had mounted a challenge to that petition. Do you think he couldn't have found even one bogus signature? I have no idea. Probably with the right judge. Do you think he decided not to challenge simply because he wanted to be nice?

Interesting, at the online political simulations, and the various discussion boards that I have visited, the libertarians inexorably ally with the Democrats against Republicans. I wonder why that is? I've not seen the simulations to which you refer, so I don't know how the population of people who play them compare to the U.S. population at large. Because libertarians disagree with certain aspects of both parties, it would not be surprising for them to side with Democrats sometimes, depending upon which issues seemed at the moment to be most important.

Iran and Syria have been attacking us since the seventies...they still are.
Saudi money financed the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11.
Saudi's flew the planes that attcked us.
Saudi money financed the madrassas that taught those pilots to be terrorists.
Saudi money is still funding the madrassas that are teaching more kids to be terrorists.
The Saudi's are our allies?
If that isn't a disastrous foreign policy I don't know what is!
