"Where did you ever get that from? "

From your posts.

"No, possesion does not indicate use, but possession facilitates use"

Use how?

"While there are valid reasons for using a gun, there are also plenty that aren't valid. "

This has what to do with possession?

"A gun has only one purpose, unless you use yours to hang picure frames with. "

A firearm's purpose it to propel a small piece of lead (with perhaps a cupro-nickel or gilding metal jacket) at speed in a certain direction. Nothing more.

"Is it some strange fixation or perhaps some form of OCD?"

Why do people want anything?

Frankly, I've seen your type. They're called "hoplophobes". You fear what you would do with a gun and project that on others.

"Otherwise, they have no use"

To YOU. Not to me. Not to others. How DARE you appoint yourself judge?

"Your assertion was that you should be able to own any gun you want, free of regulation, and that was predicated upon the notion that you have the right to do whatever you feel like, despite what the duly-enacted laws concerning that action or activity have to say about it."

The 2nd Amendment is clear - and is the highest duly-enacted law of the land on the matter.

"And really, I would never ever do what I said in that post (I'm not that kind of animal), but it was intended to show you how easily your "because I want to" attitude could be extended to cover just about any range of inhuman behavior and point out the logical fallcies contained within."

Again, you conflate a mere possession of a thing with an action against others. The two are worlds apart. I don't see that you have any concept of what a "free country" actually is. You must have lived in New York for quite a while.

I expect a formal apology for your libelous statement against conservatives in your earlier post.

Expect it, but don't count on it. I just wonder what libelous statement (i.e inconvenient truth) that was?

Getting back to "possession doesn't predicate use", if I understand you correctly, you should be able to have a gun just for the sake of having one, without any intent to use it for any purpose whatsoever (including hanging picture frames when you can't find a hammer)?

So, if I get this right, you might have no use, or really and truly want one, but you would have one anyway (if only to gather dust) just because you could or should be able to?

Why, that reminds me of that scene in the "The Life of Brian", where the Judean People's Front decides to fight for the symbolic right of a man to have a baby if he desires it, even though he's incapable of bearing one in the first place.

I guess you might call that "principle", even if it is ultimately stupid.

Wombat101: And as for P, I guess when I come around to his house, heave a brick through his window, p*ss on his front lawn, club him to death with a golf club, violate his wife and burn his house down (just after I kick his dog in the nuts),I can simply walk into the courthouse and explain my actions away with his patented "Because I want to" defense of personal justification, assert that all those silly laws passed by constitutional process don't apply to me, and leave a free man (not that I would do it, but you get the idea).

Funny how they always seem to be the ones fantasizing about violence when they can't intimidate or browbeat people into agreeing with them. Then they whine that no one wants a fair debate with them.
