It's people like you that make me HATE groups like MADD, even when I'm generally sympathetic to their cause.

Drunk driving, as irresponsible as it might be is NOTHING like Terrorism or Gangs, and the people that do it are certainly not, just by the nature of driving drunk, 'trash'. There is no compairison to terrorist, gang members, or other things. NO comparison. Nada. Nothing. To compare it shows you have absolutely 0 perspective on the issue.

Drunk driving is careless people doing careless, reckless things. It's not hateful people doing hateful, murderous things. Completely different. One thing doesn't define who a person is, the other doesn't.

And before you try 'attack the messanger', let me say something: Two of my best friends were killed by a drunk driver less then 5 years ago. The kid that killed them was an irresponsible jacka$$ who deserved the jail time he got. He is not, however, even in the same category of someone who straps explosives to themselves and blows up a Cafe, or someone who shoots a grandmother to steal her purse, or someone who steers a 747 into a building. I think he's out of jail now. But he's no terrorist, nor does he deserve to be treated like one.

No, no, no.

He was perfectly honest about it. Did you read the article? It essentially said "He didn't make himself out as bas as he could have, he could have made himself out to look even worse!"

Which is stupid. A sane person would say "Yah, I got drunk last night and hurt some people I cared about. I'm sorry." They wouldn't say "I got drunk last night and pissed on my best friend's shoes becuause I was mad at him."

The first one isn't a lie, and no sane person would expect someone to say the second. There simply isn't any reason to.

It's not that simple. If you shift money out of MN and WA, that lets the D's do the same, nullifying the effect.

And this won't hurt McGavick, or at least it shouldn't. The entire story essentially says "He told the truth, he just didn't explain all the crass details," which nobody should be expected to do.

That said, I've never thought McGavick is going to win. He's already made it a better race then I thought he would.

"The point about him being possibly a 0.19 when the incident happened is really not at all germaine to his confession, he provided the number he was given from the police. Nobody would have done any different than that, and I bet if there is a newspaper article from the time it says 0.17 as well, not this "must have been higher at the time of the occurance" stuff. So I don't see ANY attempt at hiding anything from him saying 0.17. If he had said "it was over the 0.1 limit", I might agree with you, as that could be an attempt to hide how much more it was. "

The information seems to say he never took a valid breath or blood test, only a 'roadside' test. Those testers are notoriously inaccurate and the readings are NOT admissible in court.

As to the reading being higher while he was driving, without seeing the evidence it is as likely it was lower. You see, alcohol takes an hour to assimilate into the blood.

Had he concluded drinking just prior to driving and being stopped, it is entirely possible that his BAC was under 0.1, which was the likely limit at that time.

Sheesh! This is King County. What makes you think we have any control over who wins the senate seat? Just look what we got for a governor!

Kiddo, all I'm saying is that if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. I like Mike McGavick, and I will not be distracted by destructive politics that origninates in the land of "Baghdad Jim" McDermitt, and Patty al Murray.

I stand by every one of my comments.

I have popped them into some of my legal letters to opposing counsel, just to defray the ennui of it all.

I'd <sniff!> with disdain were it not for my OCD driven need to insert the word "contrafribblarites" into conversation whenever possible.

BTW, "sciolistic": coming soon to a conversation near me - thanks!

Kiddo?! Thanks! (Come on, you're not that old.)

Trust me, I don't fall for anything coming out of the Cantwell camp. If they said the sky was blue I'd have to step outside and see for myself.

Let's just hope that all the stupid left wing drunks in Washington state turn out to give a "buddy" a hand up! That includes the two martini lunch media crowd who have terrorist-like tendencies it would seem!
