Perhaps because you don't live in Texas?
There are a heck of lot of people who post on here that don't understand Texas and Texans!
Nellie Connally, like Lady Bird Johnson, were "old school" Texas ladies, meaning they did not enjoy talking about the past in great detail. To them, the past was just that, the past. They especially did not enjoy bringing up the painful details. My late grandmother was very much the same way.
These were tough old ladies, raised in rural areas of Texas in the early 1900s, who made it through the Depression and WWII. A lot of them were Democrats, because that was the party of Texas until the 1980s. But most were God-fearing conservative women, who passed their values down to those of us who are now conservative Republicans.
I am always sad when I hear about the passing of another of these tough old ladies, because they sure don't make them like that anymore!
