A NATO plane crashed Saturday in southern Afghanistan, killing 14 British troops, according to a spokesman and the British Ministry of Defense. The International Security Assistance Force said the plane had reported a technical problem before going down and hostile fire did not appear to be the cause.

The British Ministry of Defense said the dead included 12 Royal Air Force personnel, a Royal Marine and an army soldier.

We heard the radio traffic today but thought it was a recovery team at the wreckage site of the Dutch F-16 that crashed on Thursday. We heard all the radio traffic on that one. That really sucks. Two crashes within 48 hours. There have been way too many crashes over here. But tomorrow we'll be in the air again.

From AP's Dept of Saying A Little More Than We Intended:

Shortly after the first crash was reported, a purported spokesman for the Taliban, Abdul Khaliq, claimed responsibility, but it was impossible to independently verify the claim.

"We used a stringer missile to shoot down the aircraft," he said.

My sincere condolences to the British people, especially the families of these victims in the fight against global terror.

Very sad indeed. President Bush has stated very clearly,"There are absolutely NO isolated incidents! Everything that happens is related to the Islamic Muslim Terrorist threat world wide."
