The objective is to be able to insert one's approach to solving problems into "the system". Voluntarily relegating yourself to a permanent loser position, where you have ZERO influence does NOT advance your "principles"

Ultimately every political party must choose those issues which it cannot compromise. They should be limited in number, well-defined, and part of every stump speech of every party member.

I think the attempted subversion and destruction of the American family is one of those deal-breaker issues, and I bet 90%+ of Republicans would agree.

FO ignores the fact 100% of GOP lawmakers voted AGAINST the agenda promoted by the liberal Austrian and the Democrats. When the chips were down, he threw his party overboard like so much useless ballast. Some "Republican!"
