Footwear creates trouble in Hyderabad [Design looks like "Allah"]

HYDERABAD: Police on Friday seized Liberty Footwear Company's Glider brand on which a controversial design resembling the Arabic word "Allah" was imprinted. Three showrooms of the company at Abids, Banjara Hills and Ramgopalpet were told to close their shops for the day.

Following protests by the local Muslims the footwear company tendered an apology. Sources said such footwears were first noticed in Bangalore. Some Muslim leaders on Thursday night had purchased some footwear from Liberty showrooms. They found that No. 3 and No. 7 of the Glider brand carry imprints of a design which resembled Arabic word'Allah'.

To avoid an untoward incident, police were posted at all the five authorised showrooms of Liberty since early Friday morning. The police asked the showroom owners to either destroy the stocks or remake them by removing objectionable design."We asked the authorised showrooms to remove the stocks and they acted accordingly," city police chief A K Mohanty. Rapid Action Force personnel were deployed in the Old City area as a precautionary measure. A large number of policemen were deputed near Mecca Masjid and other mosques in the old city.

Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said, "Muslims are being hurt in some or the other way. It is done in a very planned manner and there are some anti-Muslim agencies that are working behind the campaigns to provoke Muslims."

The Arabic script comes from Wikipedia, and calls it an "example" of Allah written in Arabic script, so there may be other variations.

I definitely see the resemblance, so naturally anyone who wears these shoes should be rounded up, stoned to death, their heads cut off, and then buggered. It is the only common sense solution.
