I was a little confused by this part:

Although not a primary objective of the test, the kill vehicle intercepted the warhead and destroyed it. This was the first intercept with an operationally configured interceptor.

The test also laid groundwork for the program's planned intercept in late 2006.

The first paragraph says they intercepted the missle this time around (though it wasn't a hard objective). So next time they will plan to intercept? :)

Or did they mean 'inception'?

I think that tracks with the acceleration of test objectives. They weren't planning on an intercept this time but they got it. Of course these things can never work and the liberal talking heads will still tell us this test was a failure. It ain't just a river in Egypt.

I read somewhere else this test was more for tracking systems testing. The test later this year is supposed to be the most "real world" test to date of the whole system.

We are definitely expending money at record pace, but I am truly concerned that it is not getting us "bang for the buck"...the quantitative coverage or even minimally necessary numbers of "arrows in the quiver" required.

We really need to ratchet up the pressure on this Administration...to do its duty, and shuck its dangerous liberal delusions.

Thanks for the ping, but not sure what you are promoting? The budget for '06 looks like it was much lower. Are you not in favor of strong homeland defense?

..what you are promoting?

Real Defense. SDI. Not just as a idle technology exploration...but real capability.

The budget for '06 looks like it was much lower.

Yes, by one billion or so. But still more than enough to be deploying substantial and effective assets.

Meanwhile, the Navy has fallen from 344 ships to 281 ships on W's watch...and he has it on track to collapse further to 180 ships.

Are you not in favor of strong homeland defense?

What kind of a question is that?! Indeed, I am. Are you?

But the real question is whether the Administration...which seems to listen to Ted Kennedy and Joe Lieberman and Biden more than us...really interested?

To me, it looks more and more like it was all for show.

What do you consider a "real capability"?

And how do you know what is "enough to deploy substantial and effective assets"?

What do you consider a "real capability"?

Hold on there, BobaLoouie! That sounds disturbingly like a Clintonism. The definition of is, is....

Real is real. No pussyfighting, euphemisms or quibbling. And no compromise. The threats are real, and the vulnerabilities are real. We need to address these seriously, and no longer evade the responsibilities...the duties...to provide real deployments to address each concern. No further procastination... for whatever reason or excuse.

You want to see where I believe we should be, a little light reading is in order.
