Yes, according to the Halacha, Karl Marx was Jewish. But his parents did become Lutheran before Karl was born and he was raised in a Lutheran, but not very observant household. I know a lot of anti-Jewish people wish it were otherwise, but facts are facts.

When you are born Jewish, even if you declare yourself to be an atheist, you are still Jewish.

Compare that to a Lutheran.

When you are born a Lutheran, and you declare yourself to be an atheist, you are no longer a Lutheran. You are just an atheist.
