Our pundits and experts scoff at all this concern over Islamic fascism — as crude propaganda, neo-conservative war mongering, a veiled agenda to do Israel’s bidding, conspiracies to finish turning America from a republic into an empire, or just old-fashioned paranoia.

The left and it's media whore want America embarrassed, humbled, so that she may cede authority for war to the UN, a group that actively seeks to undermine our interests every chance they get.

Woe be it to all of us if this should ever come to pass.

There is some room for hope but I don't see much for those in Europe where the population trend in their midst will produce an even louder cry for sharia imposed on the host governments who can not sustain their populations as families grow smaller in the highly taxed socialist model.

In the US, even those who have been fed a bunch of appeasement nonsense from the leftists have begun to see for themselves. The recognition of the obvious threat will become more apparent and the whine of the left will become just another part of the hysterical cries as it always has in the past.

probably gonna take an event of 100,000 casualties in the 'West' or U.S. before avg. U.S. voter gets to a war point of view and Pres. Bush morphs into A-bomb Truman.

At this point in time, we are simply enslaved to the flow of petroleum from the ME. Our economy depends too much on the petrol products that make things flow. This is a perfect example of how bad energy policy (not becoming self-sufficent) is coming back to bite us in the ass. The mullahs, islamonazis, mohammedans et al. know this and have used it as a very large bargaining chip. If we become cut off from our supplies of petrol from the ME then the ChiComms can really hammer us economically. They would have access to all the oil they wanted/needed and could exploit the trade deficit to do some real damage. There is now a push to bring nuke power and home drilling online but even if the support was there tomorrow it would take a minimum five years to get it on line to the point that it would make a difference. John Q. Public is too selfish to understand sacrifice like our forebears did (WWII) and screams every time the gas prices go up instead of asking really why they are going up. I will disregard the neocon-military-industrial complex tinhat statement as it doesn't bear arguing.

...why are we funding those who want to kill us?

Because those who want to kill us control a finite resource which many of us do not want to do without.

The only real solution is for the west to seize the oil fields from the Muslims and then produce and sell the oil on the inernational markets by auction.

The Muslims must be banished back into the deserts from which they came.

It would be the same if someone controlled the only supply of water. He would quickly be relieved of it by our governments.

The special case here is that the Muslims are using their effective cartel to fuel the destruction of the west.

Self-sufficiency is a good thing in itself, but oil is a fungible asset and the ME will continue to get ever more money for its oil from China, India, and the growing economies, regardles of where we get ours.

The fact that we now import oil and leave our own reserves in the ground is a strategic advantage, even if accidental.

The only reason they have the oil is due to US companies and technologies and look what they have done with it. Unfortunately, the Lefties have effectively kept us attached to the trans-Atlantic IV and are helping the mohammedans screw us with it.

I agree that the ChiComms and other Southeast Asian nations will continue to feed petro-cash into the ME. However, I still stand by my earlier statement that, "..If we become cut off from our supplies of petrol from the ME then the ChiComms can really hammer us economically." We need to start the process of acquiring our supplies now so that we can have immediate access to it when needed. The ChiComms would be siphoning even more of the world's supply (at least from Iran) but the former Soviet provinces in between the two have fought against a pipeline running through their territory. If the Iranians decide to make the offer more attractive (as sort of rent, if you will), then these struggling economies could take the bait.

Thank you for your reply. A further question please.

If they want to kill us, I'm amazed they don't cut off the resource we prize so highly. It would ruin our economy faster than a bomb on wall street. Such would make them happy. In an age when any government can print money, I doubt they need ours. They can sell enough oil to russia for rubles and china for some of the US dollars we trade for cheap junk. If they want to kill us, why don't they do the next best thing and hurt us by cutting off the resource that they control, and that we do not want to do without? If they benefit by our business, what would be the sense in killing us and losing the business? If they don't benefit from our business, then what is stopping them from hurting us any way they can, the most obvious, cutting off the oil entirely?

This is a perfect example of how bad energy policy (not becoming self-sufficent) is coming back to bite us in the ass.

The only problem is - much easier said than done. Just how are we going to become self sufficient? We can open up every square inch of the US to oil exploration and there won't be enough oil. Granted every little bit helps - but it won't make us self-sufficient.

That's going to take converting our petroleum based economy to a nuclear-generated electric economy. That's going to take plenty of time and plenty of money.

There is no simple answer. If there were - we would have done it long ago.

We have only 3 choices:

1) continue as we have
2) convert to all-nuclear power
3)seize all the M.E. oil.

There simply isn't a fourth option.
