I had the privilege of seeing the UP Challenger 4-6-6-4 go through town four years ago. It was amazing to see big steam in action. It must have been an incredible time indeed.
On the side I just recently booked my tickets for a trip to Glacier National Park on Amtrak next year, so I can imagine I'll get a chance for some serious BNSF railfaning. Of course UP just made it illegal to photograph trains from the station platforms as a security measure against possible terrorist attack.

I had the privilege of seeing the UP Challenger 4-6-6-4 go through town four years ago. A magnificent machine.
Took my grandkids on the Silverton train this summer. Kids need to see steam in action and they were suitably fascinated. That train is an American Heirloom...
Third time for me -- guess there's still some kid in me.
The Glacier trip sounds neat.
