A PAKISTAN-born Muslim has become the Royal Navys first non-white admiral.
Amjad Hussain, 47, was this week promoted to Rear-Admiral, from Commodore, to become the highest-ranking minority ethnic officer within the three armed forces.
Rear-Admiral Hussain, who lives in Hertfordshire with his wife, Wendy, said that he was proud to be part of an organisation that was more interested in what you do rather than where you come from.
The father of three arrived in Britain with his mother in 1962 to join his father, who was working as a railway signalman. After joining the Royal Navy in 1977 Rear-Admiral Hussain served on frigates. He made headlines in 1989 when he escorted Diana, Princess of Wales, around his ship, HMS Cornwall.
Rear-Admiral Hussain admitted that when he first enlisted he had been subjected to verbal abuse but added: When people got to know me all preconceptions disappeared
Already many of your MP's have thousands of muslim voters to appease, how long before there are many muslim MP's ?
Already the UK government has gone soft on Iran, prefering to waste time in limp wristed "negotiations"
I think that when you accuse a man with a 29 year career in the military of treason with absolutely no evidence, he should face no punishment if the charges are unfounded and he takes action to defend his honor.
LOL!!
decades ago it was thought that a devout catholic could not hold public office because his loyalties might lay more with the vatican than anywhere else. In recent years I have heard the same thing said about Mormans. Speaking as someone who was raised a catholic I have always found certain things like a celibate preisthood and the church's stand on birth control to be more than a little ridiculous. And indeed for a long time many American catholics have ignored the church's dictates on birth control. Many people tend to find thier own way to practice and live thier faith, especially educated people.
