There's *no* way....no way *whatsoever*...for a *real* Republican to win in RI.
In Novemeber,it will either be Chafee, who votes for us once in a while,or a *real* democRAT,who will never,*ever* vote with us.
That's the sad reality of the political landscape in New England today.
A Laffey victory in the primary will make some "purists" feel good, but it will prove to be a pyrric one next January.

Maybe you can answer this for me. No one else has even tried.
If RI is so liberal and so heavily democrat, why have they been electing a Republican for years? Granted, he is a liberal pubbie, but he is a pubbie. Why?
Could it be that the people want a real republican, but the GOP keeps getting in the way and propping up Chafee?

Chafee never EVER votes Republican on any bill with a chance of passing.

Doubtful Chafee would be able to pull it out anyway. I'd rather money not get wasted there. And Chafee isn't reliable as far as staying in the fold anyhow.

That becomes self-defeating. Following that line of thinking, Reagan could never have become president. Yet, he did. But first, you have to have the courage to run a more conservative candidate.
Laffey has a pretty good chance. Chafee is just plain weird and the voters know it. And the Dims are splitting their supporters in a nasty way. If we are to have a chance in R.I., Laffey is it for the forseeable future.
Sometimes, you have to take a chance on what you actually believe in. And Laffey isn't exactly some right-winger. He's pretty liberal in most ways. But he is solidly against raising taxes and far more loyal to the GOP than Chafee will ever be.
Laffey also has the support of Club For Growth. Chaffee is their biggest target this year. So Laffey will have plenty of money too.
Take a chance on your principles. Especially if you have almost nothing to lose.
