Rather than the GOP propping him up, their (our) money would be better spent helping a conservative or at least a real conservative to offset this seat.
Now that is the first hint of logic on this whole thread...but it misses the point. Why run a conservative against a Republican in a state that is very liberal? Wouldn't it have been better to try to win a seat now controlled by the Democrats?
The way it looks to me is that conservatives in RI want to give the Democrats control of the Senate. Even if that is not what they intend, that is what their work may well bring about.

I mistyped. I said 'real conservative' and I meant real republican.
When you make an omelet, you have to break some eggs. In cleaning the GOP, there will be some loses but it is for the ultimate and greater good. We aren't losing much in losing Chafee.
