Although all of King's political positions did not fall lock-step with our understanding of conservative positions, a clear and overwhelming majority of them did.
That's a pretty good definition of any conservative - no member of any political persuasion agrees with every position taken by other members of that persuasion.

The real measure of a man is what is in his heart, and that he act on it. The most closely held beliefs of King differ greatly from those on the left.
King held moral absolutes. The left says it's all relative.
King was pro-life. The Left is pro-covenience.
King was an evangelical and believed in a literal interpretation of scripture. The left believes it's all rubbish.
King didn't believe it was right to steal. The left believes in taking what is not there's.
King believed in a "hand up". The left believes in a "hand out".
King believed in helping those who need help. The left says leave them in the torture chambers for Saddam.
