A chance encounter....helped cops nab a homeless drug addict now charged with killing an aide to former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani after a gay-sex romp...... Detectives were at a Manhattan employment agency looking for records on the suspect, Edwin Ramos, 26, when Ramos - who hadn't worked there in about a month - showed up.....to collect back pay.
Ramos, a drifter with a long history of drug arrests, made a call using a cellphone that belonged to Martin Barreto, 49, who had worked in the City Hall press office during the Giuliani administration.
Barreto's nude body was found Aug. 21 in the bedroom of the Greenwich Village apartment he shared with a cousin......the suspect stole Barreto's phone, computer, keys and some clothes - then sold the phone and laptop to buy drugs.
Cops said Ramos made statements implicating himself in the murder. "He said he met the guy while walking on the street.....They engaged in a conversation and then he was invited up." The body of the gay exec was discovered in his bed with lubricant and a condom next to him, officials said.

"Or the old J. Edgar Hoover?"
Can't you just picture J. Edgar in a dress?
You're nuts. Plain and simple.
And a credit to FreeRepublic.
In case anyone did not know it, there are a lot of gays in NY City. Many of them vote.
Maybe you should read #115.
You also want to castrate Gays?
That was suggested in Egypt a few years ago, but rejected in favor of prison. Not a bad idea though, less permanent than beheading.
Would we establish separate courts for that, like traffic courts? How many witnesses would we need? Who pays for the medical care.
What about lesbians? Clitorectomies? Super glue?
Don't believe everything you read in the newspapers----cops usually don't reveal publicly all of the evidence they've compiled. They like to let the perp inadvertently spill something that connects him to the crime.
An infamous case was Dianne Feinstein than a Mayor now A US Senator who went on TV and showed viewers the kind of sneakers the infamous Zodiac killer was wearing. Of course the ZK got rid of or destroyed this crucial piece of evidence.
Baretto probably did not pick-up this vermin on the city streets. He had apparently used a Dial-A-Dick delivery service. The killer might have latched onto the info, then made his move, wanting items to sell to feed his habit. Druggies get pretty desperate.
You can make bags and baskets with them. There might be a business opportunity here. Not to mention an entire new section of the defence bar. Never fear, conservatives can out Somali the Somalis.
"The fantastical idea of virtue and the public good being a sufficient security to the state against the commission of crimes, ...was never mine. It is only the sanguinary hue of our penal laws which I meant to object to. Punishments I know are necessary, and I would provide them strict and inflexible, but proportioned to the crime. Death might be inflicted for murder and perhaps for treason, [but I] would take out of the description of treason all crimes which are not such in their nature. Rape, buggery, etc., punish by castration. All other crimes by working on high roads, rivers, gallies, etc., a certain time proportioned to the offence... Laws thus proportionate and mild should never be dispensed with. Let mercy be the character of the lawgiver, but let the judge be a mere machine. The mercies of the law will be dispensed equally and impartially to every description of men; those of the judge or of the executive power will be the eccentric impulses of whimsical, capricious designing man."
--Thomas Jefferson to Edmund Pendleton, 1776.
No.
Nor do I think Jefforson was a loon.
I want to see gays helped. (Why do you capitalize that, by the way?) I think we know much more about what motivates them, and therefore how to help them, than Jefferson did.
He was right about the issue (treat the problem) but wrong about the implementation. He was doing the best with what he knew. We know better now.
Shalom.
The serial posters who hate Rudy are a pretty sick bunch.
Your better off not debating them. It's like trying to pet a dog foaming at the mouth.
"The serial posters who hate Rudy are a pretty sick bunch."
You a shrink? That word hate is oh so very selective, kinda like a word of possession of opportunism.
I think hate and sick and lets include obsessed are the appropriate words. There is also some weird gay obsession thing going on. Pretty sick.
Rudy is trying like heck to make himself over to look like a conservative---because he knows conservatives can make or break an election.
But Rudy can't shake off this claque, attaching themselves to him with the superglue of campaign donations.
But hey, no problem----Rudy's real good at appeasing voting blocs.
He will kowtow to his donors' fondest wishes----he will throw conservatives overboard.
The question is when.
My Gosh, he hasn't worked for Rudy for something like 10 years. So ridiculous.
I presume, like the Sage, you're opposed to the federal death penalty for espionage, large scale drug trafficing, and solicitation of murder of law enforcement officers and court officials in certain instances, as well as crimes like rape of a child, narcotics, kidnapping or desertion in time of war in state or military jurisdictions.
these anti-Rudy thread are becoming an embarrasment on FR. its one thing to have legitimate disagreements with him over policy issues - no problem.
but Rudy has nothing to do with this murder case, absolutely nothing. this is a pure smear effort.
in the meantime, while freepers smear Rudy - he's one of the key figures running all over the country trying to help republicans keep congress.
No, just standing up for the Republican position that Republicans won't hire gays. It's in the platform somewhere, I'm sure.
