A uniformed National Guardsman was beaten by a strangers as he walked to a convenience store in Parkland, the Pierce County Sheriffs Department reported Wednesday. Investigators suspect the man was attacked because of his uniform. The indication is its because he was a soldier, sheriffs spokesman Ed Troyer said. There are some specific questions (the attackers asked) that were military related and what his involvement in the war was. No arrests have been made in the Tuesday morning attack, and Pierce County sheriffs deputies were seeking the publics help in identifying the attackers. The soldier, 22, was walking on 138th Street South between A Street South and Pacific Avenue about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when an SUV pulled up beside him, deputies reported. The driver asked the soldier if he were in the military and if hed seen any action. The driver got out of the vehicle, pulled a gun and shouted insults at the soldier, deputies reported. Four others then got out of the vehicle, knocked the soldier to the ground, and punched and kicked him. The five attackers then got back into the black SUV and drove away. The soldier suffered minor injuries and did not receive medical treatment. The attackers did not take anything from him, Troyer said. The driver of the vehicle was described as a white man, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and with a heavy build. He had short, blond hair and wore a black T-shirt and jeans. The passengers were young men. Some wore red baseball hats and red sweatshirts.
Coop what do you suggest??I would be willing to donate some money to sweeten the pot as a reward.
Question for our attorneys out there.
Isn't it a federal crime to assault military personnel?
Shouldn't the U.S. District Attorney & the F.B.I be brought in.
Until the full weight of the law is brought down on punks like these; they will continue to think they can disrespect our military & their uniform!
This not only an assault on our military but our country too.
GRRRRRRR!
We can criticize the President's Immigration policies.
Now that really pisses me off.
I'm not prone to jumping into peoples business, but if that happens in front of me, I'd rather get my a$$ kicked then live with myself having done nothing. Was there no one around?
Hey Mark, want to put out the word on your radio show.
"Instead of being sentenced to 30 days in the local jail - they should just be turned over to the nearest military base for a day."
To heck with the local military base, just drop them onto Parris Island, and let the Marines take care of them.
Thanks, I searched for a post first and found nothing.
nope, I'll have to make some calls and see if I can rattle some cages. I'm trying to get down to Camp Pendleton today;
if I can get out of the office!
(Pendleton 8)
No. Don't let them be caught. Let the military folks in the area find them. A few days of "talking" to, and I'm sure these scum would never approach another soldier of this great country with anything less than reverent fear.

"Is it possible for a person to be charged with a hate crime towards US military or US citizens?"
Not sure, but based on the comments made by the attackers and the questions, these individuals should be treated as enemy combatants. I think the description fits.
- They attacked a US military person, in uniform for the sole reason that he was the US military. In doing so, they attacked the US military itself.
It could almost be declared an act of war (Ok, maybe im stretching it now), but they still deserve military retaliation.
Hmmmmmmmmmm...out for a walk in uniform?....is this area anywhere near a NG base or recruiters office?
Don't forget that there are NG activated and fighting in Iraq.
This soldier may have been home on leave.
Whatever the case, anyone who assaults a military personnel in uniform is attacking America!
Time to send some Navy SEAL and Special Forces hand-to-hand combat instructors up to Parkland WA (and the Loony Leftist NW) to walk around in uniform. Then let the instructing begin! (Unfortunately, they would get in big trouble from their superiors for doing so......).
Don't forget that there are NG activated and fighting in Iraq.
LOL...........believe me, I know!
I believe one thing we could do is flood the area with letters to the editor. The two major papers in the area are The Olympian in Olympia and The News Tribune in Tacoma.
The letters page link to The Olympian is below, the page for The News Tribune won't come up, maybe they've already been flooded.

Shades of Vietnam. At one point Military Personnel working at the Pentagon were told not to wear their uniforms to work, to stop all the violence and hate directed at them.
