Governors of states in the west are providing State National Guard to protect the border. Florida has a Nationa Guard. They are under the Governor. This is where Tom Gallagher comes in. If the feds are slower than molasses in a crisis, you bet I want the Governor to abide by his oath to protect Floridians.

Immigration and response to an emergency are two different things. Louisiana and New Orleans were slow as molasses in responding to Katrina, not the federal government; the state and local authorities did not request or approve federal assistance until things had obviously gone out of control. At one point, the White House was contemplating declaring that a state of insurrection existed so that federal aid could be legally brought into New Orleans.
