I am proudly endorsing Tom Gallagher for Governor of Florida. In a day when moral standards are up for grabs, Tom will be a champion for the family. He will work to provide genuine school choice for every Florida child, and he understands that the courts must be reigned in.
Dr. James Dobson National Conservative Leader
Harvey....one of Jimmy Stewarts finest films as far as I am concerned...
Harvey...real or imaginary?...quite the apt picture for this thread...
Anyone have the answer?
Moral Absolutes Ping. See question above.
The answer is, no one state is any more guilty than any other state of bad care, whether in hospitals, nursing homes, eldercare facilities, hospices, groups homes, etc...there will always be problems with the care that is provided in all 50 states....
I find your charaterizing Florida as being the place to bring elders to die to be unseemly as has been pointed out to you before...abuse, poor care, substandard facilities exist everywhere...no one state has a monopoly on this...
We have had personal upfront contact with our 4 elderly relatives living right in Clearwater, and we were always kept immediately informed of anything medical regarding these 4 lovely elderly relatives...and the care they received was nothing but superior in every way..every effort was taken to save the lives of the 3 relatives that have already passed on...
If I would believe anything of what you say, I should believe that they were all shoved along to their deaths...nothing is further from the truth...every effort was made to keep them from dying...
Every single state will have problems with some facilities, and some medical personnel...Florida, specifically Clearwater, does not seem to be the deathtrap that you describe it as being... not from my personal experience, nor from our relatives experiences, nor from any of their friends experiences...
Do you even know what conspiracy means? You said it was a conspiracy between the dad and whoever else to place Crist as captain of the football team.
It was a true story
That remains to be seen. You're going to have to prove it. No excuses, no secret sources. PROOF. Your word isn't enough. In fact your word actually tends to make me doubt all of it. :~)
Oh, of course, I know the answer...we all know the answer to that one...glad you chimed in...this thread all of sudden, got much too quiet...
When Gallagher loses are you going to vote for Max Linn?
Max Linn?
My husands aunt and uncle moved down to Clearwater from Chicago, decades ago, because his company moved down there...He should have refused to go with them, because of course he should have known, this was his companys way of making sure that when he got old and grey, it would be a convenient place to shove him into a nursing home, and speed up his demise...
But no, he stupidly encouraged his sister and her husband to move down there, when they became elderly, which they did, because the area was great...
I have to shake my head, and wonder at all this nonsense...

Crist would not support government involvement in end-of-life decisions, siding with the ACLU in criticizing Governor Bush's actions in the Terri Schiavo case
Dear Pro-Life Friends: I wanted to take a few minutes to explain why I am backing Tom Gallagher for Governor. Let me start by telling you that I was the Special Projects Coordinator for Concerned Women for America while I lived In Pinellas County. I used to chase Charlie Crist around, to try and get him to give me a straight answer regarding the sanctity of human life, he always said "I am personally opposed to abortion" I would call him on this and say that is not a pro-life answer. He would just smile and never directly answer my hard questions. This has gone on for years. I have been hosting the National Day of Prayer at our State Capitol for the past 12 years and moved to Tallahassee 7 years ago. I have had many occasions to talk with Charlie and with Tom. Tom was a wild, playboy, moderate pro-choice Republican for years and made everyone crazy. Then he met Laura Wilson, she lead him to Christ and they got married. He slowly began to change his life and his thinking. I have known Tom and Laura since 1999, Columba Bush introduced me to Laura. Laura is a born again Baptist and strongly pro-life. She became my prayer partner and I have been in their home many times and watched their lives...long before this campaign. I know Tom's priest and Tom has gone on men's retreats and has gotten into God's Word and I have watched how strong he has become on pro-life issues and his love for the Lord has grown since he married Laura (of course he still has a few rough edges). I stand by his conversion and his stand because it is real. Charlie, however has never given me a straight answer in all the years I have known him, although he is amazingly good at connecting with people and making them feel good. I am the National Area Leader for the National Day of Prayer Task Force and I am over the Southeast Region of the US.
I have refrained from having Charlie speak at the Capitol Rally due to his true stand on family issues. His office has called many times asking that he speak. Last year I finally asked him (after much pressure) to read the President's Proclamation at he rally, which he did. This year (again due to the fact that he would be the only cabinet member not praying and much pressure) I finally asked him to read Dr. Henry Blackaby's "Prayer for the Nation" ( a strong repentance prayer), he agreed. I introduced him as reading this prayer and much to my dismay, he stood up and didn't read this prayer and proceeded to read his own prayer. Next thing I know, a 527 group has his picture with the National Day of Prayer banner in the background behind Charlie with his head bowed in a campaign brochure. This was amazing to me, I was pressured to put him up there for a prayer photo op. I can't believe that he didn't do what he committed to do and did his own thing at a prayer rally for our state and nation. This is just one example of why I do not trust him. Dr. James Dobson doesn't endorse in primaries and this year he has endorsed a few candidates, Tom being one of them, because of the strong differences in the candidates regarding life, marriage and stem cell research.
Dr. Dobson is a strong advocate for the family and he stands with Tom. I hope you will stand with Tom as well. Tom will make a great governor and Laura a great first lady, who I believe will do the right thing for the right reason. Over 100 Christian leaders across our state are standing with Tom because of the real strong differences in the two men. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Tom's story of redemption through Jesus Christ is the real thing! >>> Blessings, >>> >>> Pam Olsen
My post #233 should have been addressed to you...goodness, is my mind failing?...maybe my son should drive me down to Clearwater, so he can grab onto my money quicker than he thought...
yeah...
The wife's grandfather moved down there when he retired in the early 80's....
He has the normal ailments for a guy who is 80, but there isn't some stupid conspiracy to bump him off like which is purported here.
It's lunacy, pure and simple.
LOL
I know :)
it's ok :)
I just noticed your tagline...thank you for you service...my husband is retired military...I always thank vets for their service...
You are right.. it is not about Terri.. .but it IS and ALWAYS will be about character and principle.. this was clearly a PRINCLPLE vote that speaks volumes much larger and louder that the "Terri Issue" IMHO this was a CLEAR decision about whether the STATE OF FLORIDA will err on the side of LIFE or DEATH.. and thanks to the nine RINOS told the world that Florida prefers DEATH over LIFE... thats it period... so again its not about Terri, it is about how the people we elect THINK.... and if given the choice we need conservatives not RINOS !!

this is Max's position:
I respect religion and its place in our lives and I feel strongly that it should not dictate government policy. I believe that government should stay out of our citizens private lives as much as possible in matters of personal freedom. I feel that women have the right to choose whether to bring a life into this world and I would uphold the abortion laws as they now stand.
If the Florida legislature recognized civil unions I would accept that.
I support stem cell research. I think we should protect those who are alive as much as those who are unborn. If the federal government continues to withhold financing for stem cell research I would take action. As governor, I will help raise money from the private sector to finance stem cell research in Florida. I do not see it as a role of state government to finance that research.
The government should not be in the business of legislating or enforcing any groups definition of morality.

So I guess duhs not all that pro-life huh
