Why not? That's the law! And they aren't entitled to profit from their crime anymore than a drug dealer or burglar - therefore sale of their autos and effects may exceed deportation costs producing a net fiscal gain for our economy.

Demand for legal low wage workers would increase the cost (price) of labor at the bottom end of the wage scale. High school kids who now can't get a job would be in high demand, as would low skill citizens as in the inner cities. Tax receipts would go up, welfare case load goes down, and the money earned would stay in the US. Win - win as far as I can tell.
