I think we'll start seeing that here pretty soon.
Locally, they've already started with the "water waste" drumbeat.
What's really happening is people who don't play golf are driving by on a weekday, seeing all the high-end vehicles in the parking lot, and people out enjoying themselves at "their" expense in the middle of the week, etc.
Trust me, it's going to happen.

That is what is different about Chavez. He is purposely picking a fight, he is daring his opponents to come after him.
There is no lack of undeveloped land around Caracas that could be acquired by whatever means, fair or foul. Seizing the golf courses, these particular golf courses, is rubbing their noses in it.
Castro is getting ready to check out, Cuba is going to convulse very soon. Chavez thinks he has the game rigged to be the next Fidel. But for him, it isn't enough to "be" the Great Dictator, he needs to be sure that everyone knows it.

When I was in Caracas, I went to all of those golf courses. They were the only place in the entire city where you could meet friends and not get mugged. My blood boils at this news. Here are some photos of what the dope-addled Caracas mayor is proposing to turn into a shantytown:
![caracasgolfcourse2](http://images1.snapfish.com/3479%3B4238%7Ffp344%3Enu%3D3277%3E9%3A7%3E879%3E39898%3Ba38374832%3E232465%3A%3C%3A%3C7%3B7ot1lsi)
Above are the golf courses to be expropriated by the communist government of Hugo Chavez, to be turned into a shantytown for favored party cronies.

The course existed long before urban sprawl filled up much of the mountain-fringed valley. What a ridiculous statement! That so-called urban sprawl was unchecked illegal immigration, from Colombia and the Caribbean. That's what happens when you quit policing your borders and let anyone in. They set up shantytowns, encircle your city, elect communists and come after your golf courses. It's really pretty sick, but it's really what happened in Caracas.

50,000 homes would be built on 363 acres spanning the three golf courses. 50,000 homes on 363 acres? Sounds like just enough so everyone gets to live in their own outhouse.

20 years ago we would have supplied rebels with arms to fight this kind of totalitarianism.
I guess we've got too many irons in the fire to deal with this now.

Long term, probably not good for Chavez. I'm sure there were plenty of elites who were members of these clubs who acquiesced in his rule as long as they were protected. Now, he's pissed them off.
