My oldest son, who is now 23, used to watch him on PBS. My son was 5 or 6 at the time, and he'd sit there mezmerized.
He did have about the most soothing tone I've heard on television.

Yes, he died in 1995. Although Bob Ross incorporated apparently lives on.

Did he pass away? He died about 5 years ago. Some stations still carry his shows, though. His products are still sold in craft stores and some art supply stores.
