Today, CNNs Kyra Phillips got caught, well, with her skirt down. Someone in CNN left her mic open and on the air as she went to the loo in the middle of President Bushs speech commemorating the Katrina anniversary. So instead of getting the presidents remarks, CNNs audience got that and Phillips in some girl-chat. Click to watch/listen.

Oops! CNN Airs Anchor's Girl Talk Over Bush Speech
Posted by Megan McCormack on August 29, 2006 - 14:38.
Looking for a "passionate, compassionate, great, great" man? Well, according to CNNs Kyra Phillips, they do indeed exist.
During CNNs live coverage of President Bushs remarks from New Orleans, Phillips was unaware that her microphone was on and picked up portions of a conversation she was having with another woman, apparently in a CNN restroom. At 12:49pm EDT, those listening carefully could hear Phillips praise her husband:
Phillips: "Yeah, Im very lucky in that regard with my husband. My husband is handsome and he is genuinely a loving, you know, no egoyou know what Im saying. Just a really passionate, compassionate great, great human being. And they exist. They do exist. Theyre hard to find. Yup. But they are out there."
Phillips also inadvertently revealed how she feels about her sister-in-law:
Phillips: "..Brothers have to be, you know, protective. Except for mine. Ive got to be protective of him...Yeah. Hes married, three kids, but his wife is just a control freak."
Video clip (1minute 38seconds): Real (2.6MB) or Windows Media (3.06MB), plus MP3 audio (478KB)
The full transcript is behind the cut [including one vulgarity]:
The audio of Phillips conversation could be heard overriding President Bushs remarks approximately ten minutes into the Presidents speech. While the President could be heard during the exchange, Phillips gaffe was very distracting:
Kyra Phillips: "assholesYeah, Im very lucky in that regard with my husband. My husband is handsome and he is genuinely a loving, you know, no ego[unintelligible] you know what Im saying. Just a really passionate, compassionate great, great human being. And they exist. They do exist. Theyre hard to find. Yup. But they are out there."
[unidentified woman]: Well see. Hes going to come, you know, hes set for an extended visit[unintelligible]"
Phillips: "I mean, thats, thats how you figure it all out, those extended visits. [laughter]"
[unidentified woman]: "Yeah, but my mom, I think she really likes him."
Phillips: "Moms got a good vibe? Good."
[unidentified woman]: "Yeah, my brothers the one that[unintelligible]"
Phillips: "Brotherof course, brothers have to be, you know, protective. Except for mine. Ive got to be protective of him."
[unidentified womanunintelligible]
Phillips: "Yeah. Hes married, three kids, but his wife is just a control freak."
[unidentified woman #2]: "Kyra."
Phillips: "Yeah, baby?"
[unidentified woman #2]: "Your mic is on. Turn it off. Its been on the air."
Seconds later, Daryn Kagan stumbled through this awkward transition:
Daryn Kagan: "Alright, weve been listening in to President Bush as he speaks in, uh, New Orleans today. This is the one year anniversary of Katrina making land shore there. President Bush saying if another natural disaster hits, our countrywe must, uh, react better than that. Lets listen in once again to President Bush."
I wonder if Brit will use it at the end of his show tonight? hehehehe
I wish the thread wouldn't have been pulled. I was about to make some exceedingly brilliant observation! Now, it's lost forever, it seems.
That sister-in-law is going to NOT be a happy camper at Phillips' family gatherings in the future. And the brother who is married to her will have hell to pay ;-).
JFC, now that you've been vindicated, could you ask the mods to put your previous thread back up, so that we can see it?
The newsbusters page has it available as a Real file or WMP.

I wonder if she's going to think twice about doing any stories about Bush and open microphones.
LOL I haven't been called a kid in a LONG time!

I actually asked to have it pulled. After so many freepers were being RUDE and HATEFUL, I decided to let it come out on Drudge. By the way, I had thought she was talking about Bush being compassionate when I heard it live on cnn, but it turned out it was her hubby she was talking about. So I guess I was wrong in my first inital report.
Well, women you know. We're usually in the bathroom to fix our makeup and stuff like that ;-).

I don't know how to ask to get it put back up!
At least she said nice things about her husband. She's going to need him on her side right about now.
I haven't seen 35 in a long time! ;D
We demand that the previous thread be brought back
:-)
If it is put back up......... you will see all those who were snippy to me ;)
If a freepers turns on his own.... are they really good people? ;)
They never gave a back story on the name that I recall, and I have seen every episode. What a great show!
Johnny "Drama" is Vince's half-brother.
If you want it back up, You can ask the AM, and we'll go make fun of the snippy ones for you!
Thank you. The link is working now!
Now I feel dirty and guilty for taking such pleasure in listening to/reading this "private" conversation.
I'm sure her SIL will be inviting her to dinner soon! /sarc
roflol!
