Further indicate? Nope. Quite the opposite is true. VA has been trending to the right for the past few elections.

I beg to disagree. Not only have Dems won the governorship in '01 and 05, but the GOP has lost some ground in the state legislature I think. Now Allen's seat is seen as vulnerable. Analysts say the increasing numbers of Dems in the northern VA/DC area are a bad omen for Republicans. At the moment I would say they still are a GOP leaning state but that might not last.
