Tomatoes, lettuce, and onions are not cheap in California.

Tacos are one of our more expensive meals. By the time you by taco shells, meat, sauce for the meat, and all the fixings, it adds up quick.

Then if you want to do anything fancy like avocados or olives it really adds up.

$2/pound for tomatoes, $1 for a giant head of lettuce, $69/lb for onions. Cheap. (How few dollars a day are you expecting people to live on? And what junk food are they living on at whatever amount you select?)

If they were much more than that, they be trucked in from the other states where those prices are the norm.

That is just SOOOOOOO wrong. But I guess it's similar to the situation I've got with chicken around here.......there are 2 processing plants right in this county 100,000s of chickens are grown in this county (there are 170,000 of them across the road from me right now) and yet the price in the supermarket is outrageous.
