Khaled and his friends were pretty unhappy about it, and while in New York,
they came up with a plan to "teach a lesson" to the passengers and crew.
...(big snip)...

The others in the room thought the story was quite amusing, judging
from the laughter. The imam stood up and told the group that this
was a kind of peaceful civil disobedience that should be encouraged, and
commended Khaled and his friends for their efforts.

Not suprising at all.
After the London bombings of summer 2005, columnist Steve Lopez
of the Los Angeles Times spent most of a week with the LAPD bomb squad.
He described a situation in which, besides plenty of innocent
false alarms, there seemed to be a lot of these sort of calculated
"civil disobedience" incidents.
One that Lopez described was of a guy acting strange, leaving a box on
an MTA bus after exiting.
Yeah, false alarm.
After the bombing of a London bus...NOT funny.

These peckerwoods are just helping to wear down the defenses in
prepartion for their truly religious Islamist buddies.
Whether that's their intent or not.

If on a jury, in all likelihood, I would NOT vote to convict some
poor airline stewardess or bus driver that has their own "civil disobedience"
demonstration by planting their foot up the backside of one of these
"peaceful" goons.

Yup they are getting the police and others so used to false alarms that they will be too jaded to see the real thing when it happens.

On another thread someone suggested that Muslim travelers were 'messing with our heads.' That in itself in another form of terrorism. You know, if we impose multiple stringent inspections at the airport, we should be able to enforce basic rules of behavior while on board an airplane in flight. Such rules could prohibit behaviors which suggest terrorist activity or are otherwise disruptive, and would cover all travelers, not just Muslims. There have been a few cases of bizarrely disruptive passengers within recent memory who have been detained and questioned.
