This is a highly intelligent woman, probably very assertive, and certainly one who was able to speak her mind.
It's not a matter of perfection, but one of simple common sense.
She had a huge advantage in letting them believe she did not understand what they were saying. Why should she give it up? The only thing suspicious is that the Imam let her sit there during the "private meeting". I would think they are more paranoid than that.
