Thanks for the added information. Frankly, the other point of difference is that while Tilden won the popular vote, I question whether Al Gore did the same in '00, considering all of the vote fraud the Dems were perpetrating. Whenever someone around the office comments that Gore won the popular vote, I chime in, "I demand a recount!"
Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. You have to go back over 150 years to find 3 Democrat Presidents who received a higher percentage of the popular vote than George W. Bush.
Most Democrat Presidents were elected with a plurality.
Pierce got 50.84% of the popular vote. Jackson (in 1828) was the last Democrat before FDR to break 51%.
Amazing.
