What?! The family values crowd is what gets Republicans elected. Do you believe for a minute that if Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council pulled their support any Republican could win? That's exactly what would happen if Giuliani became the nominee. Family values are not confined to "the occasional moonbat." They are the driving force behind conservatism today.
I'm speaking of the term itself, and only the term. Conservative don't use it to describe what they believe in. Liberals do.
That's been true since 1980, and is why Romney (after laying to rest their "Mormon" concerns) might be the best candidate....they best be careful, however, and this is why:
Giuliani has the ability, in my view, to win the nomination even with tepid support from this group...and if they piss him off and he wins in November, well, they might get what they asked for...
They would be well-advised to keep "The Eleventh Commandment" of Ronald Reagan in mind during the primary - as would most of us...(McCain is not a Republican, before anyone brings that one up...)
