Ugh. I was on a Canadair jet at that very airport back in the early 90's when the nose wheel gear failed as we rolled for takeoff headed for Montreal. We were lucky. Bless all souls on board this one.
Unfortunately, Canadair jets seem to have several crashes attributed to them on takeoff.
I'm sure many here remember the business jet that skidded off the end of the runway and across a highway in Teterboro, NJ. That was a Canadair HL-600, closely related to the CRJ's used by almost ALL the major airlines today.
