Anita McNaught, the wife of the camerman Olaf Wiig, put the big SHAME on the Palistinians, and it worked.
Good for her.
Wife of kidnapped Fox journalist appeals for release
She accomplished this in classic negotiation language. She gave the terrorists a crumb or two, and then laid it on thick about how these guys were innocent.
It worked.
Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh meets at his office Thursday in Gaza City with Anita McNaught.
The terrorists tried knew that her campaign would hurt them in the media. She was well spoken, good looking, and would not go away.
There's no big deal in assigning them another beat, so that's hardly a traumatic shift for their careers, happens all the time.
They are such "humanitarians" you know.
This is incorrect. What they were forced to do is SAY the converted to Islam. There is a vast difference.
You're right; I should have said it that way.
Kinda funny in an ironic sense, Islam calls for you to be a liar, so while (if) they were muslim they were just lying to their enemy about being muslim, just as a good muslim should.
Any way I'm glad to read that they are free.
They should do a follow-up piece...something involving a koran and urine.
If they denounce their "conversion", any Muslim on earth is encouraged to kill them.
Heh, the DU thread on this is sickening. Not a word condemning forced conversaion to islam at gunpoint.
Instead: "you gotta love the Media savvy Hezbollah guy who put this together!"
Or, "I am sorta glad they were released and well. Let that be a lesson to you, Fox News. Do not bring your right wing ilk there (or anywhere) or else."
and: "I can't help but smell something fishy as well - Fox-terror all the time. Fox will probably play it for all it's worth."
I wonder if they'd be so smug if it was CNN/ABC/CBS/NBC guys kidnapped? Nah, they'd be marching in the streets then. But let a TV network stray from "all Bush-bashing all the time," and suddenly they become not-real-people to the liberals.
On Drudge it says they converted to Islam.
As a Christian, I would not. As an American, I might have tried to take one of them with me. Remember, don't go quietly.
Nope.
When the ABC anchor Bob Woodruff and his camerman were injured, there were prayers offered on this board.
Don't expect civil behavior from the Demons on DU.
Please do not be inaccurate. Not on this board.
From the ABC article:
In a phone call with Fox News, Centanni said that during his capture, he was held at times face down in a dark garage, tied up in painful positions, and that he and Wiig were forced at gunpoint to make statements, including that they had converted to Islam..
There is one hell of a difference between enemy propaganda and the truth. Being mentally tortured and physically abused is a fact for these two men.
Drudge gives a link to the ABC story, but there is no reporting that they converted to Islam; but they were:
were forced at gunpoint to make statements, including that they had converted to Islam.
This is wonderful news, thank God Centanni and Wiig are safe.
Thank you for your excellent posts Peach.
You're more than welcome, jazusamo.
"Taking one with me" isn't an option. These terrorists know how to keep and hold prisoners. These cowards have been doing it for thousands of years.
Escape or "taking one" ain't gonna happen. Do you think that one could escape from a team of American soldiers and "take one" with them?
I don't mean to sound rude, but it is like the "from my cold, dead hand" thing. A SWAT team of twenty is going to take you out. It might be from your cold dead hand but unless you have claymores set up they will all go home unscathed.
Brave talk is still just talk.
BTTT!
now that would be priceless..
