In the 40's they were offered statehood, instead they choose to fight Israel.
Arafat was offered statehood, borders etc, instead he choose the Intifada.
As I said, I'm sick to death of hearing about the plight of the Palestinian people, they've brought bit of hardship they face on themselves.
We are in violent agreement
It's like asking us to feel sorry for the plight of the Germans in 1945.
Was it David Ben-Gurion who said that they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity?
Obviously the actual goal (you know, that "root causes" stuff, LOL) has nothing to do with "statehood for the downtrodden palestinians". It's all about destroying Israel and killing the Jews.
Back in the early days of this madness, the Arabs basically ordered the palies to leave their homes and become "refugees". Then, they whine about being "refugees. The "refugee camps" we hear about would in any other venue be called "cities". They're not a bunch of tents and camel-stands, they're actual cities, designated as "refugee camps."
I was once told by a Palestinian that "as the Jews are the 'kicking boys' of Europe, the Palestinians are the 'kicking boys' of the Arabs."
Just as the "Persians" look down their noses in contempt at the Arabs, the Arabs despise the Palestinans. They are "useful idiots", only insofar as they serve as a convenient thorn in Israel's side.
Look at a map, observe the vast millions of square miles of vacant Arab land -- land that could easily be used to create a "Palestinian homeland", without causing ANY "loss" to the "grantor states." But, that's not going to happen, because it would be a real solution.
The goal is NOT to "find a solution." The goal is to nurse "the problem" along until it becomes sufficient for the destruction of Israel.
Perhaps the biggest tragedy of all is that the ignorant Palestinians allow themselves to be played, enthusiastically becoming "one-shot cannon fodder" for those who really despise them.
Israel has been far kinder, more benevolent, fairer, and merciful to "The Palestinians" than any Arab nation.
