They probably will ask to be reassigned. On the other hand, maybe they feel that to be reassigned sends a message to the terrorists that they won. Some people might insist on going back just to show that they aren't going to let the terrorists win. If it was me, I would NOT be going back.

The problem for these two guys is, if they want to go back to the same area to do their jobs after denouncing what they did, their lives would be in serious jeopardy. They would not be able to go back to the middle east to work or they would have to keep silent on the subject. Sad position they are in. Oh, I've thought to that point, too.
Life and integrity are more important. There are other places in the world to work besides the Middle East. If I got into such a situation and had to spew garbage on TV to save my life, I'd do it. I'd definitely denounce it when I was free and safe. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't.
I enjoy working in the Middle East and it is lucrative as well. But if I had to do something as described above, I could work somewhere else in the world. I could eschew the Middle East forever if it came to something like that.
More important is that I would be alive and my integrity would be intact.

I believe Olaf would have decked the guy holding his right arm, if the guy over his left shoulder hadn't grabbed his left arm. What do you guys think? When you see this video again, doesn't it look like Olaf is about to swing a left roundhouse punch at the first grabber dude?
Don't blame the guy a bit.

The bible is pretty clear on the role of false prophets and hypocrites. You don't think the reverse applies?
See also Romans 10:9 - That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
or
Acts 15:8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.
Or
Corinthian 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
I'd say the Bible is VERY clear on God knowing what is in the hearts of men.

I'm so sorry that you don't seem to know that the act of forgiveness is indeed included in the Holy Bible. It's not about "forgiveness" -- it's about, "If you deny me, I will deny you on the day of redemption" (or words to that effect. I'm exhausted, not feeling very well, and I've captured the gist of it above.)

Allegra,
Aren't they in mortal danger from renouncing their conversion?

Aren't they in mortal danger from renouncing their conversion? Not if they do it once they get into safe territory.
You just don't come back to the region.
To me, it's worth it. I'm sure everyone's priorities are different, though.

Have you watched the tape? They read the statements like first graders, making a point to let the camera see them turning pages, stumbling over words --- an obvious attempt to let the viewer know that the statements are made under duress.
They don't look brainwashed, they look fed up.

When I strike it rich, I'm gonna produce a horror movie -- "Night of the Living Hallway Monitors"
I won't mention it here, of course -- I'd be nitpicked to death! ROTFL!
Seriously, though, thanks for having the wherewithall to take a stand for common sense. It was getting kinda surreal for a while, back "upthread".
