Per Fox News
Thank God they've been released.
Bottom line: Steve was always a fair reporter. I think the enemy was made aware of that fact.
Great news, and I'm glad to watch Amy Kellogg on the story. She's a great girl.
While I prayed for their release during this time I always believed they would be released after their kidnappers made their point.
Point's been made, and they look happy and Thank God healthy.
He was a fair reporter.... but just looking at the destruction in Lebannon over a couple of kidnappings.... I don't think many people really want that to happen again.
Imagine the joy their families are feeling right now. A wonderful Sunday!
bttt
She's emotionally invested --- perfect that she was on duty for their release.
Very fair ....... he always gave both sides they say.
That's why I was so hopeful in how Amy and Steve's family voiced their messages. Amy, and those who helped her with her "words", were brilliant diplomats, so to speak. I can't tell you how many times I said, "YES!" to what they were saying to their "audience".
Nice rah-rah, I congratulate you.
Yet, the fact remains that each time we had a Really Bad Warlord cornered in a city, we backed off, pulled our punches, and allowed him to regroup -- and, rebuild his "street cred", for having withstood "the great satan."
We did it in Gulf War I, and we're still doing it now.
Back in the 1940s, we knew how to fight a war. We made damn sure that the Germans and Japanese knew that they were DEFEATED. We made damn sure that they KNEW that they answered to US, and us ALONE, *period*.
From THAT foundation, WE built a "democracy" for them -- on OUR terms.
The result is two longstanding allies (although Germany has grown progressively weak in the knees over the years).
Contrast that with the Kinder Gentler "Conquest", which is really no "conquest" at all.
And factor in a foe sociologically programmed to have utter contempt for the kind of "weakness" manifested as "kindness" or "mercy" to the defeated.
If we want their RESPECT, we'll go in with an iron fist, and stop pulling our punches. Otherwise, we earn their contempt.
You may not like that. *I* certainly don't like it. But I'm not going to kid myself about it.
"Shuck and Aw" was a crock. Sound and fury signifying nothing, as evidenced by the fact that after lo these years, the enemy remains UNCONQUERED, even though it was within our grasp to put the heel to his neck.
I doubt that Amy was off-duty for more than was required to get a few moments of sleep. You're right...she's been emotionally invested in this from the 'git go. They were her friends, her comrads....she's a good girl.
Right -- they have their tape and the new converts have been returned to us infidels. Praise the Lord.
I'm surprised by Amy's words. Doesn't she realize that an Israeli soldier was also kidnapped in Gaza???? Also an 18 year old was kidnapped and killed in early July by Hamas or another terrorist group in Gaza.
Sorry to be a downer on a happy time, but I don't like Amy saying the Palis aren't known for kidnapping.
Right!
Ditto, ditto, ditto, Chena.
I feel a headache coming on. Too much stress and worry.
Indeed! I need to go to sleep. but I want to see the release of Steve and Olaf one more time.
......... go get that juicer out.
;-)
I'm signing off now too. It's almost 2:00 a.m. here in Alaska, so you're up....well, later than that! LOL Go to sleep! Me too. chena
