Didn't they elect a corpse to the Senate a few years ago?

Hello,
Yes, the voters of MO did elect a dead man (he died in a plane accident too late to change the ballot). His wife ultimately served.
It was messed up, to say the least...
Glad to be here, MOgirl

Yes.
In 2000, John Ashcroft was defeated by then-Governor Mel Carnahan, who was killed in an airplane crash three weeks before Election Day. The Lt. Governor, Democrat Roger Wilson, appointed Jean Carnahan (Mel's widow) to fill the seat. In 2002, Jim Talent won the special election which was held to fill the balance of the deceased/widowed Carnahan's term.
This is Senator Talent's first election to a full term for this seat.

No, we elected the corpse's wife, Mrs. Carnahan as senator. The Rats got out the old sympathy vote.

Didn't they elect a corpse to the Senate a few years ago? Apparently they felt a corpse would be a better senator than the fool that was made Attorney General and then used drapes to cover up the nudity of the statues at the Justice Department.
