"Aw come on, tell the story, please? "
Ok! My fatherinlaw had to have back surgery and we all thought everything would be relatively normal. Well, Pop not ever having had any kind of anisthetic or strong pain killers did not react well at all. He's a very mild mannered nonassuming type of man, softspoken, never a swear word etc.
He became Dr. Jekyle! My husband spent one night trying to keep him in his nightgown and in bed. He lost the nightgown battle. Then it was trying to keep him from putting his walker through the window so he could "escape". And all of this was laced with foul language and horrible threats! My husband's other two brothers all had similiar stories from their babysitting nights! After about 3 days he finally became more himself but it was only with extremely quick reflexes did I miss getting flashed when he decided to examine his catheter while I filled in a couple of hours to watch him. Then I had to demand that a nurse get in the room immediately as he was trying to pull the postop drain out of his back! That was quite a time! And blessedly I think Pop doesn't remember any of it.
Thank heaven for that!
Meds and anesthesia do odd things to people sometimes..
Mr B had to have oral surgery once for an impacted tooth..
He wasn't coming out of the anesthesia..
Scared me hlf to death he did..
The Doc told me to talk to him, thinking that my voice would bring him around,
after many hours of crying and pleading to him, he came back to me..
Prolly just to shut me up!
