It is the illegal immigration issue that brought the President's numbers to abysmal levels this past year. Conservative infighting had many turning against him and calling his supporters "Bushbots." (I'm a card-carrying Bushbot, btw.)
If some bring the issue up now, they either have an agenda or are not very thoughtful.
I have worked and prayed for decades for the dream of controlling the Presidency, the House, and the Senate, so that SCOTUS can be changed. It is THE MOST CRITICAL ISSUE OF THIS AND THE NEXT FOUR ELECTIONS. Ginsberg and Stevens will go, and then some of our own conservatives will be very old and in need of replacement.
We must have constructionist conservative President and Senate to appoint constructionist judges. That's the way it works.

Like you, I want strong constructionist judges. One of the interesting thing is that many of the Justices appointed by Republican Presidents (Warren, Brennan, Stevens, O'Connor, Kennedy and Souter) have been closet liberals. The last closet conservative was Wizzer White and he was appointed by Kennedy. Maybe JFK just wanted an ex-jock on the court.
Nevertheless, you can't simply close your eyes to the issues of border security and illegal aliens. Once the illegals are granted amnesty and start voting, the conservative movement is dead. When that happens, the new justices will make Souter and Kennedy look like far-right extremists.
What do you suggest we do: simply stand by silently while Bush and the Senate push on with a "comprehensive" plan that pleases their contributors and destroy the country?
It's too important an issue and one on which Bush has a closed mind. You can't ignore those issues because they will reshape the future of politics in America.
