Thank you very much for posting this article. I first heard about the program
Darwin's Deadly Legacy as it was advertised on Christian radio. I got pretty excited, thinking it would be on the
History Channel and that my dad, who, unlike myself, has TV, would be able to watch it. His satellite does not cover "The Coral Ridge Hour" however. Up until last year my dad kept up a subscription to
National Geographic and has been not only a believer in but an ardent defender of evolution, and not a studious reader of the Bible. I'm ordering the DVD for him, knowing that he has respect for many of the names and reputations of those who appear in this program, and for Dr. Kennedy himself.
I just watched the preview on-line, gratefully, and with gratitude to God and all involved pray that this program and all the controversy surrounding it will open eyes and soften consciences. Truth makes us free, though many rage in opposition. With gentleness and respect as Christ the Word and Spirit dwells in me, I've sought to discuss these things with my dad, yet knowing men are better able to receive truth from other men, I've prayed fervently for many years that an upright, godly, Bible-believing man would enter my dad's life for mentorship: This DVD is an answer to my prayers, for Dad watches a lot of TV!
Found through the Coral Ridge Web site:
Ten Questions to Ask Your Biology Teacher About Evolution.
Thanks to VOA for the link at post #20!
And thanks to protest1 for your comment #85 on a related thread; I'll print out quite a bit for Dad from there, too. It seems you are not a protest one, per se, but the cause of many (evidence above)!
With great admiration,

...my dad...(snip)...has been not only a believer in but an ardent
defender of evolution, and not a studious reader of the Bible.
I'm ordering the DVD for him, knowing that he has respect for
many of the names and reputations of those who appear in this program,
and for Dr. Kennedy himself.
With your kind deference, I'll pass along a few gentle suggestions.
If I were in your shoes (and I'm not), I would probably mention
this to your father...
1. The show is NOT saying that Darwin intended to have a figure like
Hitler develop killing machines for specific races/groups of humans.
In fact, one of the guests says that (Ian Taylor?).
But I'm afraid that that is the message a lot of people will get.
And it's an unfair rap, analogous to that of "Christ intended the
bloodshed of The Crusades with his teachings in the New Testament".
IF I had been producing this special, I'd have said that Darwinism
needed a warning label
"WARNING: This is a scientific theory. Use of such as basis of
social policy can result in suffering and/or death of millions"
Darwin's theory, right or wrong is a scientific theory. But, Darwin
didn't hope to see Hitler's handiwork.
(I'd also say that ID should have an analogous warning:
"Warning, this is a theory about first causes, a consideration of
what reductionist science tells us, in light of religion and philosophy)
2. What the show is truly driving at is that Darwin set in motion
a line of thought (even a science PhD is a doctorate in philosophy).
And without sufficient warning labels, it was exploited for
ends that even the secular might (in a weak moment) call "evil".
3. IIRC, Dr. Francis Collins has expressed some dismay about being lured
into being a guest under false pretense. However, I think the show
was fair, as it basically described him holding to the theistic evolution
viewpoint.
Without impugning anyone in the science community, I suspect
Collins found out that he had to make some sort of disavowal of the
show after he got some heat from those 60% of scientists that
don't believe in a G-d that answers prayers.
I feel for Collins because he's gonna' catch H-E--double-toothpicks
from those scientists...and from Christians that blast any mention of
the possiblity of theistic evolution.
4. The show doesn't say there is no evolution; it says micro-evolution is
real and observed.
5. Historical sidenotes: The mention that Darwin was gratified by
the Germanic support of his theories brought two things to mind.
Although I've not read it, a PBS "American Series" episode on
The Scopes Trial mentioned that the closing argument that William
Jennings Bryant intended to give (but was forestalled) mentioned how
Germany was carrying on the Darwinistic thought to an extreme.
Of course, this was at the time of WWI and soon after, well before
Hitler arose to power.
Also, I believe I've heard that Victor Frankel said something along
the lines that The Holocaust wasn't started in some office where the
camps were planned, but that it was started in the classroom (where
students got their theories about race).
Sorry for going on so long, but just thought those might be things
you'd want to consider.
