I was watching Fox when Joe from ac cu weather came on...He is concerned about some storms off the east coast of Florida...He said they could become a home grown storm and needed to be watched....

I actually sat down and did a study in 2004 for the hurricane season and got a trial Accuweather web account so I could go through Bastardi's columns...

He forecast tropical development basically every two days - and even during periods of weeks where nothing forms.

I realize that for some strange reason people feel an emotional bond with him - I think it's that's he's not good looking and not slick, yet enthusiastic - but I really hope to get across to people that Bastardi is selling snake oil and AccuWeather is a deceptive and often incompetent organization, more concerned with publicity than accurate forecasting.

Your probably right but from what I have seen. Once one gets formed he seems to be pretty right on what they will do...In sales being a snake oil salesmen some times is the norm LOL..

. . . AccuWeather is a deceptive and often incompetent organization, more concerned with publicity than accurate forecasting.

However, it seems that they have plenty of political pull. Last year I heard that Sen. Santorum (I think) was trying to cut off funding for NOAA weather internet radar services to eliminate Accuweather's "competition". I wrote my congresspersons to protest this, but never heard anything back. I hope nothing will come of it.
