Maybe a Tarheel can correct me, but I seem to recall a couple of horrific crashes caused by drunken illegal immigrants. This may be a reaction to that. If so, this is just a tad misguided.
And I sure the MADD busybodies were involved.
This Tarheel can tell you all about the drunken illegals in this state. A few years ago a DI--drunken ILLEGAL, hit a family of four on their way to the beach. The father, a teacher, was killed outright, the mother is a bit better than a 2 year old child and will be institutionalized her entire life. Fortunately, the youngsters were physically OK and have grandparents that are raising them. There are endless incidents of this sort of DI behavior in the state.
About two weeks ago in our small town, 25 miles north of Charlotte, on a Sunday morning, while folks were crossing the street going to the local Methodist church, a Cadillac Escalade comes speeding toward them and careened off the curb and rolled onto its side. The driver fled, the four passengers were slightly injured ( and taken to the ER at our expense). Several male parishoners chased after the guy and tackled him. None of the parishoners were injured, all were scared witless for a few minutes. None of the Cadillac ESCALADE occupants spoke English, all were well over the legal limit for alcohol consumption ( this was 10 in the morning).
Don't get me going on ILLEGALS and booze in this state. Rather than limit the licensing of these ILLEGALS, Gov. Easly continues make life easy for them and difficult for the tax payers here in NC.
