>>>Am I permitted to disagree?>>>

Of course, that's what makes this country great.

>>>For what it's worth, I believe women can teach in church. But I don't think that everyone who disagrees with me has totalitarian tendencies.>>>

I do. To say that someone is not 'GOOD' enough to present teachings to the church is insulting and degrading. IMO

>>>Where did your particular prejudice come from?>>>

It didn't 'come' from anywhere? Why is that because I have formed an opinion that it is ignorant and wrong to say that women can't teach or preach that it must mean I'm 'prejudiced' in some way. By saying that in itself you are showing your sexist attitude.

But at anyrate, I do not agree with ANY doctrine that claims that only the male POV should be allowed to come forth in a religious setting. I think it's malarky and a way to keep women dependant on men.

I'm actually looking for GOD'S point of view in church, not "man" or "woman"s point of view.

And I think LOTS of people are incapable of teaching. But this isn't about being incapable, it's about God's plan for his church. Just as God decided that many of his creatures would not be granted eternal heavenly life, he determined (according to some interpretation of scripture) that church would be governed by rules, one of which was that women would not actually TEACH male adults.

I was in a bible study run by a woman from a baptist church when I was a teenager. When one of the guys in the study turned 18, the woman told him HE would now have to lead the bible study because he was an adult male, and she could no longer teach him.

He stepped up to his responsibility as an adult male in the church, and we all learned from him what God wanted us to learn.

"To say that someone is not 'GOOD' enough to present teachings to the church is insulting and degrading. IMO "

Who said that?

"Why is that because I have formed an opinion that it is ignorant and wrong to say that women can't teach or preach that it must mean I'm 'prejudiced' in some way. By saying that in itself you are showing your sexist attitude."

Nobody said women can't teach. Women are some of the best leaders in my church. Men are also some of the best. It takes a team.

"I do not agree with ANY doctrine that claims that only the male POV should be allowed to come forth in a religious setting. I think it's malarky and a way to keep women dependant on men."

I certainly don't approach this issue as men are better than women. People are people. I do think the bible should be used as our guide and do my best to adhere to it. If I don't agree with what it says I certainly don't expect God to change his mind. Its usually because my mind isn't right or I don't understand.

To say that someone may not teach is not the same as saying that someone is not 'GOOD' enough to teach - unless by 'GOOD' enough you mean qualified, which I believe you did not. If that's what I believed, it would be insulting and degrading. I believe it would also be un-Christian.

Why is that because I have formed an opinion that it is ignorant and wrong to say that women can't teach or preach that it must mean I'm 'prejudiced' in some way.

You didn't say it was ignorant and wrong. You said it was impossible the person did not have totalitarian tendencies. That is bigotry, pure and simple.

But at anyrate, I do not agree with ANY doctrine that claims that only the male POV should be allowed to come forth in a religious setting. I think it's malarky and a way to keep women dependant on men.

Neither do I. Nor do I believe that limiting the role of teachers to men (which I don't support) is the same as limiting what is taught to the male POV. Or do you not think that men can see and express a woman's POV?

Shalom.
