Fox reported they were arrested and being questioned about "suspicious cell phone usage", that seems to indicate that there was some seriousness to the situation to me!
Just the fact they released the names shows that it was a serious situation. If it were all a misunderstanding and no real harm was intended why would they release the names? You usually release a name before they are going to be charged with something. If it is just a misunderstanding the authorities usually try to protect their privacy.

That would indicate that their cell phone conversations WERE being monitored - at least OVERSEAS where that despicable Carter-Clinton appointee has no control.

I'm starting to believe these terror cells are using intentionally benine tactics. They get on an aircraft, or any public access building or carrier, and do suspicious things to cause interventions that can be claimed to be "anti-islamic" or "racial/ethnic profiling". The sympathetic socialist media hypes it up, our PC spineless political leadership responds to the media hype with gushing sympathies, and we are left less likely to act.

I also think it could be planned "benign" terrorism. Look at all the disruptions, anxiety and delay they are causing the "infidels," as well as the costs to the free world.

I'm hoping that, instead of letting muslims claim faux victimhood, people in the civilized world will begin to DEMAND real profiling at airports, and everywhere else.

Apparently the Israelis have gotten pretty good at spotting
idiots like this. They have Air Marshals in the airports
that simply walk around and ask questions to everyone

If the security screening process were left to the airlines, maybe they could. But the TSA took that away from the airlines. So,as usual, there are now 2 govt. agencies involved, with separate agendas and working at cross-purposes. Thus the airlines are even more hog-tied and the flying public is stuck with the resulting snafus.
The worst part is, all the FAA has to do is ACCUSE an airline of "profiling" and they can levy a hefty fine against them.
