1--that the Mareth Line was virtually impassible due to appalling weather.Patton wouldnt have even tried a mass attack in early Feb...

2--Sorry but the Germans ALWAYS had a plan from Nov onwards to strike at the Americans.So Kasserine wasnt as ad hoc as you make it sound.

Rommel may have had it in his mind, but Von Arnim was planning an attack further north in the Dorsal. Took Kesselring to sort him out[ the perils of split command]. Arnim still held up the 10th Pz.'s participation to a point that convinced Rommel to call it off.

As for Monty, it could have been 70 degrees Fahrenheit, with low humidity and gentle breezes for months - and he still wouldn't have moved.

As for me, won the ROTC Military Science II award for military history with the paper I wrote on the Kasserine offensive.
