"partial birth abortion" is entirely a different issue than having a surgeon trained in properly removing the baby in order to save the mothers life.
I honestly think this entire thing has been blown totally out of proportion.

That is a nice euphemism, but that is not what these residents are being trained in. They are being trained in how to kill babies prior to removing them. There are ways to remove live babies in the case of emergencies....OBs are trained extensively in that. They are also trained in the removal of miscarriage.
Second year ob/gyn residents will have to complete two four-week rotations with PPC for training in abortion techniques

I honestly think this entire thing has been blown totally out of proportion. From what I understand, a D&C can be an abortion procedure or can be a medical procedure (seems fairly common in women nearing menopause). There may be many problems that can befall pregnant women which may truly make surgical abortion necessary. I want my doctor to be well versed in any procedure which may become necessary in an emergency.
