I just heard his opening segment and he was very good.

I tend to switch off the guest hosts but I enjoyed Matt Drudge when he guest-hosted. Mark Belling is good in small doses and so is Roger Hedgecock.

I've enjoyed the first hour of Mark Steyn. I particularly enjoyed the "snowglobal war on terror" and the "suicide bombing for dummies" cracks. He is so great at turning a phrase.

I heard those, too. I wasn't sure if he could do it off the cuff, but he clearly can. Now I know how he can crank out so much good writing...he just oozes the stuff out. His voice doesn't have great tone for radio...a little nasally, but he's doing a fine job. "snowglobal war on terror". that was funny.

I am listening to Steyn and love the tone and quality of his voice. I am hearing impaired and have a hard time understanding Rush as he speaks fast and sometimes squeals. Steyn is absolutely fantastic in his analysis. Wish he had a radio program on satellite.

Well that would explain it :-P Just kidding. I think he's great, too.

It may just be broadcast inexperience, but he could ease up on the reminders that Walter Williams will be here tomorrow.

Best answer is the POGO ipod from C. Crane. It's an ipod with AM and FM radio. I tape Rush from 9 to noon (Pacific time), and listen the next morning on the treadmill.

No way. Not for 5 more years, at least.
