AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch police arrested 12 passengers on a U.S. Northwest Airlines plane bound for India which was forced to turn back to Amsterdam's Schiphol airport on Wednesday, news agency ANP reported.
ANP quoted a police spokesman as saying 12 were arrested, but declined to give further details due to the ongoing investigation.
Police officials were not immediately available to comment.
The Dutch Defense Ministry said earlier the pilot decided to turn back after the crew said several of the 149 passengers on flight 42 to Mumbai were behaving suspiciously.
Security has been increased at airports worldwide in the last two weeks after British police said they had foiled a plot by British Muslims to blow up planes in the mid-Atlantic using liquid explosives disguised as drinks.
Indonesia is in Southeast Asia.
When it IS confirmed the 12 men arrested off of that plane, in Dutch custody for three days, are in fact members of the RELIGION OF PEACE, ISLAM, would somebody please ping me on FR ... so I can feign surprise? :p
I got that answer a couple of days ago to my similar question, but I STILL think it is dishonest to call Arab Muslims "Asians". It makes it sound like we're (unfairly) profiling Japanese or something. . .(grumble, grumble).
India has the second largest Muslim population in the world, i.e., approximately 135 million.

A cursory glance at the passengers (these 12)'s passports would reveal if they were Hindu Indian citizens.
If such were the case, its unlikely to say the least, that they would have been arrested.
Be prepared for the media to sweep under the rugs the "startling" fact, that these arrestees are in all likelihood peaceful adherents of the creed of Mad Mo.

Actually, the authorities lied. They briefly (less than 15 minutes) spoke to 2 of the 14 men, and then released them all. The ICE never spoke to them. They told Jacobsen that they verified that these men were musicians and that they were followed to their hotel. That never happened. Curiously, the musicians could never be found again, even when an offer was extended to perform on network television.
If you believe Jacobsen is just a silly woman with time on her hands, do you also believe the man found trying to remove paneling in a plane lavatory to reach the flight deck was merely trying his hand at re-decorating? That Richard Reid was pulling up his socks? That all of this is just overreaction to non-threats? And why?
